Hey guys, so I would like to hear some thoughts regarding answering the question "When will you marry?" during the interview?

My fiance & I, like many of the couples here, have not planned anything and have decided to get married in city hall as soon as he comes and later, sometime in 2012, have a big religious ceremony. So, when its time to answer the question, should he respond:

"we will marry in city hall and have a small party as soon as i come to the u.s., within 90 days, and we plan to have a religious ceremony for our families later on" or "we will marry in city hall as soon as I come, in August" and leave out the later ceremony (I wouldn't want them to think we will have 2 weddings, although I know that legally, we will be married in city hall.

Just wanna hear some input on what others have answered because my fiance thinks it sounds weird having to explain both ceremonies and we should keep it simple :)

Thanks

; Me and my fiance are planning the same thing, and I think I would just answer with "as soon as my visa is granted and I'm in the US".

Court wedding will be as soon as I got in the US, so I am not going to lie. If the CO asks me more questions (about if my family will fly over), THEN I will provide her more information about our Official wedding in 2012

We are planning a small wedding on the beach...We have a loose date of september 17th. It will be ultra simple with the closet of close attending...also doing a cam or livestream for all family is turkey....I think answering the question with exact info is best ..dont over give information.

I'd say

Tuesday, at 11 AM. Now, as to WHICH Tuesday it is, that all depends how fast I can get through the rest of this stuff, but I'm betting it'll be prior to the 90 day expiration date on the I-94. We both like Tuesdays, so we're picking Tuesday, 11 AM.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

my fiance's response to this when I asked her. My POE is Vegas right???? sssooooo....let's get the family to meet us there.....

(her first answer was: how soon after we get off the plane????) I have no idea what her response will be during hte interview... she has some really interesting answers. She is very, very playful.....

I just imagine the interviewer at the embassy or the Customs official.... She might actually ask the Customs official, "can't you marry us?.... No, well hurry.... I want to get to the little white chapel...." (and she is wearing a leopard print dress with a red ribbon sash while saying this.)

Hahaha!!! She is so cute!!! All you guys are right though, we are definitely NOT planning on lying. We will simply give an exact answer such as "as soon as I arrive to the states" or "within 90 days" and only elaborate if asked. Thank you all!

Probably not a big deal in Ukraine, or most other countries for that matter. If you're asked this question at the consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, then you better have a very specific answer. Location, date, time, and who will be there. Not having a specific answer to the wedding plans question has been cited, repeatedly, on denial slips in HCMC. Yeah, I know - they tell you not to make any specific plans until you've got the visa in your hands. The consulate in HCMC says the same thing, but they've gotten it into their heads that not making very specific plans is an indicator of fraud - someone who thinks the game ends when they get the visa, and hasn't put any thought into what happens after.

You could also quote the "Within 90 days of entry" mantra. The CO will chuckle and then hand you a blue slip.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

We did a ceremony in Cambodia and my knees still hurt. It was not a legal marriage thank god I do not think I would have made it threw the 2 days 6 hours was painful enough. I made invitations up for Oct 15 in Lake Tahoe and reserved a spot for a small ceremony. My friends thought it was funny that the bottom of the invitation I put date subject to change to meet visa requirements lol. I figured person doing interview would understand that
