Semantics. But I suppose, technically, I have one rifle, and two shotguns. I got rid of my handguns because I don't have any need for them. Too bad the best home defense gun you can buy is illegal.

To be perfectly honest, I wasn't even looking at single shot models. What I would use it for (target shooting), a single shot would be good enough. I'm leery about using online brokers because California has some really tricky gun restrictions.

I would take a shot gun over a hand gun for home defense any day of the week. Those 12ga Mossburg 500's with the pistol grip are about as good as it gets imo. Like why wait for them to come through the door when you can shoot through the door...

I don't know about any other state, but in California, you can't do that (bolded portion). That is considered lying in wait and can be grounds for a 1st degree murder charge. If you ask any cop what the best home defense weapon is, I would bet they will tell you that a sawed off shotgun with a pistol grip. But, in some states, you can't have the pistol grip, and in most, 18.5" barrel is the minimum size.
