Hello i am new to this site, and today i received my social security card with "valid for work only with dhs authorization". I was wandering if this means i can only use it to work, or can i use it for other things such as getting my license, going to college, and opening a bank account. I am 18 and was really looking forward to doing all those things, but i just want to make sure i dont get into any trouble. Thank you!

The designation means to use it for work you have to have a green card or EAD to go along with it. Your S S card can be used for all the other things you mention.

You can use the social security card for all of the things you mentioned. After you obtain your green card you can go back to the Social Security Office

and have the wordings removed. The words are until you obtain your green card. The numbers STAY the same. GOOD LUCK!

yes i believe this will say on your card untill you're not citizen but you can use your SSC anywhere anyother person can use.
