Fill out both I-134 and I-864 just in case. He needs from his father: letter from employer->including start date, position, salary, and whether full time, part time etc.

Tax transcripts (ordered online on irs.gov for free) for the past 3 years and/or tax returns with W2s, Last 3 pay stubs, if father is a citizen a copy of the bio page of his passport is needed or copy of birth certificate

The following are optional as long as salary alone is meeting the poverty guidelines: letter from the bank stating when account was opened, how much in the account

As long as he meets the income requirements his assets are not needed but will not hurt to have them on hand if needed. On the I-864 it states: To use assets, you must complete lines 26a through 26d and submit corresponding evidence with this form. Supporting evidence must be attached to establish location, ownership, date of acquisition, and value of any real estate holding.

if his father is a LPR he needs to provide a copy front and back of his green card.
