I receive ZERO dollars from the Feds. Eskimo's here get free medical, dental, free flights in and out, free lodging, $1,500 of free fuel oil a year, free HUD houses, pay less than 1/4 of the value for a Commercial fishing license, same with the no interest loans for a commercial fishing boat ...and said loan is forgiven after 5 years of payments, etc...and all on the tax payers dime.

Sounds like tax payers need to leave AK and let the Eskimos have Alaska be an independent nation.

More like it's time to do it right and instead of giving the money away to a conquered people, do it right and conquer without Federal pay offs. If your going to invade and conquer, then don't be a pansy and pay off the peoples who's land you invade, do it right and conquer to the fullest.

Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Eskimo's what? You keep saying "Eskimo's" which is possessive. I'm just curious as to what they are possessing?

Really, you're interpreting what I said now? Why don't you stick to obscure insults to people from Ontario.

We should stop thinking of Alaska as anything more than it is, a giant oil well and natural resource mine. It's inhabitants should start paying their fair share of taxes rather than receiving an annual stipend.

I pay my fair share of taxes like anyone else.

As far as the annual "stipend" you mention, would that be the "Alaska Permanent Fund" checks all Alaskans receive? That money has ZERO to do with the Feds. It's our oil, and we charge the oil company's for it. No we do not "give our oil away" to the oil company's like other states do, again our oil, and if you want it, then you pay for it.

Profits from the oil tax go to all Alaskans in the form of an annual check. It's called "profit sharing" and it gets shared equally by all the residents of Alaska. It's a corporation who's investors collect the profits like any other company. Alaska raked in 3.2 billion dollars profit last year from a combination of oil taxes, and investments. The Alaska Permanent Fund is a company and ran as such. The profits are invested in the stock market, other company's, etc... that money is spread out all over the place.

But every resident gets it correct without any action on their own? IE. I move to Alaska, do i need to do anything?

All you have to do is be an Alaska resident for one year to qualify. And if you owe any court fee's, taxes, child support, etc...then forget about receiving any checks until it's all paid off.

The annual checks aren't anything to brag about. In a good year we hit over $2,000, and Iv'e seen years where it's been below $400.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaska_Permanent_Fund <----- Here's a link to it that can explain it much better than I can. It even has a list of the yearly payouts.

Huh, it looks like its devaluing in the last decade or so.

The only reason I asked was that because the state government is responsible in doling it out without the resident doing anything - I do see it as a handout (though there is nothing wrong with that).
