I think you forgot, stop signs are optional in California and Washington, D.C..... and in the rural south......

In the rural south it is more strict than the big cites of the north, northeast and west. If you drive here like in those cities you will get your license revoked.

My wife had her Filipino license. She learned on the streets of Manila. But when she got here it was as if she never had driven. Maybe worse...because it was hard to get her to stay in her lane. I had to teach her all over again, and it wasnt easy. She had to take her driving test 3 times to pass, but passed the written portion the first time with none wrong.

Now she is an expert driver. She drives everywhere, and better than I drive. I am the recless one and she is sensible.

I thought in the rural south they came out of cracker jack boxes....get it revoked, got get another cracker jack box.... when I was in the south.... stop signs were vastly ignored, and people went around you whenever they could. I felt like I was in a NASCAR race, but no one told me.... In the rural south, it just depends on if you are a Hatfield or McCoy....

I can only speak for East Tennessee and Southeast Kentucky. I go to court in the morning for driving 60 in a 55. I wish I could already move to the Philippines.....

My wife is the better driver, and fortunately when she is with me she keeps me in check.

That is why I always set the speed alarm in my car. Whenever I reach certain limit I get the "Ding with yellow sign on the dashboard."

The bridge that I need to cross to get to my house has a big sign 40mph. if you go 41 you are on your own!

It's either teach her to drive, or buy a chauffeur's hat. Every time I get tire of driving the wife around, I try and teach her to drive. I was sure the third time would be the charm, until she slammed the car into the hillside, thinking the gas pedal was the brake. Driving schools won't return our calls anymore.

I think I look spiffy in my new hat.

I actually had my learner's permit for driving in the Philippines. I started learning to drive before I left for the US but work took so much time I never managed to fully learn how to there. When I moved here, my poor hubby endured driving me to and from work for a year. It was mostly because I kept putting up a fuss and the driving test part scared me.

But hubby made me bite the bullet and take it so now I drive to work alone. It's liberating but it sucks to have no one to talk to on the long drive to work and back. I don't think stop signs are optional though and always make sure to be on the lookout for them. headbonk.gif I have no sense of direction though and rely on my tomtom for directions. I panic when the darn thing starts dying. crying.gif

I was thinking the same thing! Wonder if his fiancee ended up going to the US or not.

That being said, driving in the Philippines (at least here in Leyte) would be a lot better if the pedicabs had some reflectors on 'em! Some of them look like they had reflectors at one time, but were either removed or painted over. Driving here feels a lot safer than driving in the Middle East by a long shot!

She will be getting some driving lessons from me while going to driving school. We are both very patience.

Good luck with the patience :) Driving lesson is tricky between couples. It will test how far your patience will protract :)

You were never a mistake. You were my realization.
