Why is it that when a Dem cheats on his wife that somehow reflects on 'Democratic family vaules' and when a Republican cheats on his wife it's just a meaningless fling which does not reflect badly on the Republican party? I find that most bizarre. I singularly fail to see how sexual fidelity is in the realm of politics at all, as if somehow this matters to anyone beyond the personally affected. Very, very odd.

I wonder how business would operate if everyone who cheated on their spouse from flirting to full blown affairs had to resign? While I personally do not think much of the personal ethics of people who behave in this way, I fail to see entirely how that reflects on their ability to perform the function for which they were hired (or elected).

I find the American obsession with presenting a puritanical public face absurd, silly, nonsensical.

Why would it reflect on family values? I would be perfectly happy for him to stay there and run on his family values. Wouldn't you?

It's funny you mention Ensign, and Sanford. When those two cases came to light, the call from people like Eric Cantor and the republican members of congress was "This is a matter for their constituents, let them deal with it". Now these same people are calling for someones job, for doing the same thing. Hypocrites, the lot of them. It's even more amusing seeing derps like Gary parrot that same hypocrisy.

Maybe you read my statement wrong. I did not want him to resign and I wanted the constituents to have the choice in the next election.

Now, Weiner has resigned, shrunk from his duty. Shriveled up. He will be replaced by a Dem who is appointed and the Dems will probably keep hold of his seat next election. Dammit. Weiner is a pussie.

That's a very good question. In the very few ethics hearings, these past few years, some were ending in sanction, some were ending in impeachment, but regardless, no one was forced out of the job. ####### ?

Say, what did David Vitter ever do after he resigned from the Senate following his entanglement with a prostitution service? What's that? He didn't resign? Really? So, he's still a US Senator despite being a bona fide hooker client? I guess Eric Cantor's calls for his resignation weren't very effective?

What? I am on your side on this issue. Do you think you have to disagree with me even when we agree? I WANT him to stay in office. I HOPE he does. I see no reason this should reflect on liberals, though someone will prbably try to make that point. They would be wrong, of course.
