He can pick-up the pieces and try again later but he can't be lying and continue to be an effective member of Congress. There's no plausible deniability here which many other lying sacks of ####### in Congress have to hide behind. Tony doesn't. Hence, he's gotta go.

Everybody lies - everyone in a position of responsibility or not and all over the world, lies.

I lie and I hope it's not against TOS to say that you do too. We probably lie much less than most do though. When the Police stopped me, I told them I thought it was a 60 limit.

A society which doesn't recognize that is condemned to eternal disappointment and outrage and secret guilt at their own hypocrisy (hopefully)

On a brighter note, lying is not illegal unless it is on oath, so we still have to actually DO something before we are publicly pilloried while the religious people watch and scream hate at us in contravention of their own church's teachings about casting stones etc

Perhaps it's a question of getting things in perspective. I spent 6 years in the Police Service and can you believe it but I saw worse crimes than someone taking a photo of their own underpants ? Really - I did. Really there is worse out there. Much, much much worse.
