Hi folks.

I have been monitoring the VJ site for a little while now and thought I would take the opportunity to say hi.

I am somewhat amazed by the amount of other people who are in the same situation, in love with an American and seeking to give up country, family, friends, employment, and other, to follow that love. For me, moving countries has not been an easy decision. After all, who would want to give up blue skies, white beaches, and the clean air of Australia? However, no matter the move, I will always be an aussie. I'll make it my mission now to put the aussie stamp on the south. Although, having lived in the US before, I am not looking forward to questions about kangaroos jumping down the main streets and whether I am related to Mick Dundee (thanks Paul).

Anyway, greetings and salutations to all, near and far, particularly those aussies in the same boat. This process is not an easy one. Having to dot the i's and cross the t's, having to provide evidence of your love, having to complete forms, go to interviews, and undertake medical exams is something extraordinary. But who said love was meant to be easy. The mere fact that anyone can sustain the long distance should be testimony alone of the strength of your love. I cannot wait until all the compensatory mechanisms associated with bringin normalcy into our relationship go and I can just wake up next to him every day.

Can't wait to see the calendar days fly past. I also look forward to my fiance's visit in T-25 days.

Good luck to you all.

Jenn

haha, the kangaroo thing just reminded me of when i was in Arizona in January, one of Travis' friends asked if i could say 'throw another shrimp on the barbie'......i merely replied with ' we call them prawns, not shrimp' :P

i've had an awful day, missing my Travis like crazy, so thank you for making me smile :)

You'd be surprised how many people ask ridiculous questions. Where are you from, "Australia". Oh yes, that's right, that's in Europe. Ah no, that's austria.

So get used to it. I was asked a whole lot of silly questions when I lived there. The whole prawn thing gets me as well.

Sorry to hear you are missing your man. The distance is a royal pain in the bum. I am counting down to Jason arrives on 1 July. This waiting for a visa business is cruel.

Haha...I've gotten all those questions and comments too lol! And I even been seriously asked if I can bring back a koala for them when I return!

While it does get a little annoying when someone asks me to 'say something Australian', I find it nice that people are genuinely interested in learning about where I come from. Even if their perception is a little skewed thanks to Crocodile Dundee and that Paul Hogan tourism campaign!

Good luck for the rest of your visa journey!

I know those "missing them" days all too well, when the voice on the line or video on skype, just doesn't cut it. When all you want is a simple hug and reassurance it is all going to be okay. The simple thing of coming home from work and debriefing, without having to worry about timezones and cables, and internet connections.

I am happy that you are half way now, we are just beginning this journey. I pray that it all goes smoothly and expeditiously so that we can be stateside this year.

I see you are in Adelaide. Me too, albeit 50 minutes south-east.

Ah, yeahhh. I got a parcel from him today though with my engagement ring in it, that cheered me up quite a lot :D as it would, lol. He also sent me his snow hat so i don't get cold ears when i start work early, i actually got comfort out of smelling it cos it smells like him, i figured this out on skype, he found it quite funny, lol

Wow, really??? thats awesome! i'm actually not in adelaide anymore though, about an hour out in murray bridge living with my grandma til i move, i still work in adelaide though...ohhh the joy of driving an hour to get to work everyday, lol

but i hope that your journey is very quick for you both :)
