Sorry to put a damper on this guys --but expect the best (3-5 mths ) and prepare for the worst (5-7 mths ) . Dont get your hopes too high .Most of the cases that were approved so quickly were expedites (military deployment, natural disasters, extreme hardships etc) .If you are at VSC--prepare for a long haul .

Timeline

During the summer of 2009, many couples were approved in less than a month in VSC.

As someone mentionned it, it works like waves.

I bet you ten bucks that starting next month it will go much much faster.

It happens each year... Starting July they usually focus on K1 visa, they catch up CSC and it will get slow again starting october.

We sent our petition in July and at that time, we were expecting a 5-6 months delay...And we got approved in 3 months.

2009 August filers were the champions, most of them were approved in less than a month.

Last significant immigration event:

ROC: Approved : 04/17/2013

I am curious to know what the least amount of time you have heard to receive the NOA2 for the K1. I saw some timelines that showed 4 weeks after NOA1 receival. I really don't believe it...

One of my VJ member friends got her petition's approval in 15 days from NOA 1. She was not entirely lucky though because her fiance was denied the visa...

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.

Not a huge fan of this topic, cause it tends to get peoples hopes up, or disappoint people. We filed in 2008 and were approved 4 days over a month, no expedite through VSC. As someone else said, it tends to go in cycles. Every year since I've joined VJ, people tend to get a quick NOA2 for about a month, then it slows back down again, just got lucky we filed during that month.

We waited 183 days before getting our NOA2. That was considered fast about 3-4 months ago as there were people waiting 7 and 8 months. It seems to be just recently that things have been moving much quicker. Maybe to play catch up??? Maybe to get people off their back?? (doubt it) Who knows. There is no rhyme nor reason as to what and why they go quicker and slower. Thousands of speculations though. Just prepare for the long haul and know many others are going through the same thing. If you get it quicker, celebrate and light a candle for those left behind. It seems about every 3-4 weeks this topic comes up again and again. Same old song and dance from USCIS. Slow....Fast....Slow....Fast....lose a petition....just depends on the cycle.

i disagree. we should all keep eachother's hopes high during this process. it makes time go easier and we can make eachother smile while waitting. i look at my march fellows, how we chat everyday and talk about a lot of stupid stuff and then out of nowhere, one of us gets approved, then another, and without realising, 2 months are over. "prepare for the worst" is the last thing you should tell to a person who's waitting

Yep! Whatever works is my motto... if the chat takes your mind off it for a while and gives you a few smiles, then its the way to go. (I don't think we are necessarily unrealistic about the process - just trying to hang on.) :goofy:

All I am saying is dont get your hopes up high .I have seen many get their hopes dashed and were disappointed and became bitter .I like the optimistic attitude but we live in a real world . For the record -some here on VJ are still waiting after 7 mths to be approved --See Ignors List and Oct filers posts . Good luck .

In this case i would have to agree with "Dee and Sam",I would have to say the main purposes of this Community is for us all to have some sort of comradie with each other! After all we ALL going through some sort of Immigration procedure! In the real World, there is that chance the benefit we are seeking wont come to fruition! But in the meantime WE as a Community, main focus and purpose is to lift our fellow members UP! yup. but leaveing aside the fact that we are wannabe immigrants right now, we are also human beings, with feelings. better keep the high hope all the way to the end, than going through this process with a bad thought from the beggining. if the dissapointment comes, so be it, we'll get through it, but also maybe that wont come. so whats the point in being realistic and frustrated when we can be dreamy and happy?
