aha!

I also meant CBP not CPD. haha That's a code for a parking lot I have on campus. Jeesh. Working and writing does not bode well for me!

My passport runs out on July 14 too lol. I am going to entering Canada I think on August 17thish with my expired passport. I did call the consulate and was told I can enter at a land crossing with an expired passport no problem. My plan is to fly close, rent a car, cross and go to the nearest Passport office with my paperwork and my intinerary and request an urgent passport. This was the recommendation from the Consulate. I did also call Passport Canada and they said it would be fine BUT there are no guarantees I will be issued an urgent passport, but since I will have 5 days they didn't think it would be an issue. And I was planning on sending my paperwork to my gaurantor to sign and mail back to me (I.e., a current passport holder in Canada). SO good luck I am sure you won't have any problems, but if you do live near a Consulate you should definately call them and see what they say.

2011 June 13 - Rec'd yellow letter (no change in status online)

2011 June 23 - Rec'd text that my case has been scheduled for interview

2011 August 1 - Interview (rec'd via snail mail June 27) PASSED

2011 August 3 - Rec'd email that my case has been scheduled for Oath

2011 September 1 - Oath ceremony (rec'd snail mail Aug 5)

2011 September 1 - All done, yeah.

Thanks for all the responses to my question. What I did was fedex my passport renewal to Ottawa a couple of weeks ago. At the time, the web site said it would take 20 business days to process. As long as they don't stick it in the mail to get it back to me, I should theoretically get it back in time for my trip. We're driving, so I figured I could probably get away with an expired passport, but the "You never know factor" is so stressful, especially after a seven hour drive. Crossing my fingers that it gets back to me in time for my trip. Other people on this board have had good experiences with getting their passports fairly quickly with this method, so I'm hoping it works out for me too!

fyi - for anyone renewing their passport from the U.S.. I got my passport back today via FedEx. I FedExed it on June 10, so it was about 12 business days turn-around time. Kinda nice to have a nice clean passport.

Very nice gypsyangel, glad you got it in time. Now that the postal strike is over I need to get my stuff mailed up there to my guarantor and back to me so I can courier mine up and get it in time as well.

That's great! I was at the post office, yesterday, and the clerk told me they hadn't been accepting Canadian mail until that morning. She told me they were still on strike. And I thought they were still on rotating strikes. lol. Good to know my mail will get through, though. *fingers crossed*
