TBoneTX was saying that an immigration lawyer told him there was a statutory requirement for a minimum of 10% of applicants to be interviewed. I've never seen this particular statute, so I don't know if it's true. If it's true then it would be explain why some people seem to be selected for an interview when there are clearly questions that need to be addressed, while others seem to be selected entirely at random.

I've also never seen an official publication that indicated what percentage of K1's are selected for an interview. My gut feeling, from reading people's stories on VJ, is that it's about half, but I could be way off. It could be much higher or much lower. I think the prudent course of action for any K1 submitting an AOS application is to expect and prepare for an interview.

Sad thing is that I wish that I never came here and was back home, I hate the hasel. I love my husband dearly or I wouldn't be here for my country is amazing etc... I miss Canada. (L)

I've spent a fair amount of time in Canada. I can honestly say that one thing is true about both the US and Canada - some parts of each country are great, and some parts completely suck. What makes it bearable to live in the parts that suck, in either country, is having friends and/or family nearby. I've been to parts of Alberta and wondered how in the heck anyone would want to live there. I've been to parts of Kansas and Nebraska and wondered the same thing. It all becomes clear when you go into a local bar and see how everyone has friends.

Give it some time, and try to make some friends. Before long you'll feel at home both in Canada and in your new hometown.

Thank you for being so kind, but I have never been to Alberta, Never had to the need to go there, but I do miss Toronto, Ontario, it is an amazing city. I felt so much safer there than I do here in Tacoma,WA. The weather here is depressing for it rains all the time it would seem also the fast food here is absolutely terrible and that is being kind. I miss home and my old life for I didn't have all of this paper work or fear of the unknown on my plate.:cry:

Received my Temp Work visa, I find this rather strange given the fact that we haven't been to our Ajustment of status initial interview :alien: Whats up with that

You probably mean EAD? The whole point of applying for EAD is being able to work while waiting for Green Card. So it's totally normal and supposed to be approved before AOS.

My Immigration Journey:

K1: June 2010 - December 2010

AOS: April 2011 - June 2011

ROC: April 2013 - August 2013

Naturalization: March 2014 - August 2014

I understand completely. I lived in that part of Washington for the better part of a year. I was a little further south in Olympia, but I spent a lot of days in Tacoma and Seattle. I can honestly say that was the worst year of my life, but it wasn't because of the area. My life was just generally a mess, so it wouldn't have mattered where I was.

It does rain a lot - practically every day. Rain has a different effect on some people. My wife gets sad when it rains here in northern California because it makes her miss her home and family. It rains as much or more in central Vietnam as it does in Washington. She'd be miserable in the Seattle/Tacoma area.

Being close to the border, I would think there would be a lot of Canadian ex-pats around there, though probably not a lot from Toronto. Have you looked for any local social clubs for Canadians?

Our interview was pleasent, we were approved but we didn't have the medical part done and the orginal medical they kept in Montreal, so we have a month to complete the medical part  . We already went to the approved USCIS Surgeons the same day, few more days I return back to have my TB Reading done and than the other part of the medical is going to be done. It cost us $270, lol  . Very expensive journey over all. The interview lasted 35 minutes.

After They receive our medical paper work than they will proceed with the Green Card part.

This has got to be the most stressful experience in my whole entire life. :alien:
