As to the OP...here's my solution to your 'I hate to sound so pathetic' statement....then STOP. Pull yourself up by your bootstraps (old phrase I know), and try to remember the man you were whom she fell in love with. You obviously recognize it as 'pathetic' behavior...and only you can control it. It's completely counterproductive and does nothing but put a 2 ton weight on your shoulders. I know of what I speak...I know what you feel, but you simply must soldier on (no pun intended)....don't lose yourself to the negative feelings...don't indulge yourself in feeling sorry for yourself. Reclaim your old self...be strong...and work on productive things to busy your mind until the wonderful day comes that she is with you forever. Your indulgent behavior right now is very self-destructive and indulging these pity party feelings will do nothing but harm to both you and your relationship.

Easier said than done? Of course it is...but otherwise the distance and this process would make the best of us mad as a pan of crabs. No one is shooting at you...you are both on the precipice of such a wonderful new beginning...focus on the positive, and it will carry you through.

Oh, and thank you very much for your service to this country...we all owe you a huge debt of gratitude that can never be repaid.
