I just received an email from NVC. The subject is "checklist cover letter".

The email content :

We have reviewed the documents which you submitted in support of application for an immigrant visa. Please review the information listed under each applicant's name and provide any documents which are indicated as missing or need additional information. You must submit the required information.

it is also including

Priority date : 28JUN2010

(what is the date refer to?)

Instructions

Immigrant Visa Application : The NVC has received the requested affidavit of support form (I-864) for this case. However, we are still waiting for the Immigrant Visa Application (DS-230) and corresponding civil documents for each travelling applicants.

(I sent I-864 on May 20, and sent DS-230 on May 25 by USPS, but my husband lost the tracking number so we can't tracking it.)

What should I do now? Should I reply the email to NVC explain that I have sent the DS-230 and documents. Or should I call the NVC? Or maybe I just have to wait until Jun 28? I really confuse now.

Any suggestion or maybe advice would be so much help for me. Thank you.

When NVC received your documents and sent letter to inform you, they assign a case number like in my case HNKxxxxxxxxxx. This should allow them to track your file. Also communicate with them using email if you provide them with an email address. If you need to call, try after hours like around 9-10pm. Their line is opened until 11pm EST

otherwise you will get a message putting you on hold. The priority date on the cover letter is the date they officially receive your application.

If you've been following the NVC shortcuts, then it is normal to receive requests for documents you already sent. That's what the shortcuts do. You send before requested. If you sent everything listed on the checklist already, you'll soon get another email telling you they've completed the case.

I want to reply the email, but it said that "Please Do Not reply to this email". So where should I reply the email? I just called the NVC a few minutes ago. He ask when did I sent it, when I said may 25, he said it takes 20 days to reviewed. So, I think they just haven't received it or haven't review. I hope everything I send is complete and no deficiencies.

I would call. I was wondering why your priority date was June 2010 but that is when USCIS received your petition last year.

This is very common with them. Once they receive your documents they still take a few to several days to actually put it in their system so it shows up. I sent our AOS and IV package together on the 13th of May and I know from the post office they received it on the 16th, however they did not have them both showing in their system until the 25th. During the time in between we received a few of these emails you are referring to, the first was requesting both sets of documents, a day or two later one saying they received our AOS and are waiting for our IV package, and a couple days after that one saying they have finished reviewing all of our submitted documents only in this one they actually requested our original marriage certificate which I somehow forgot to include ..

a checklist letter response

is a normal thing, don't sweat it yet.

Usually, for a checklist letter to be useful (to you), it's gonna list the things that are missing from the casefile.

Since the DS-230 was recently sent in, there was no record of it when the checklist letter was generated.

This is a 'common thing' when using the shortcuts or trying to 'go fast' at NVC - don't sweat it, yet.

But - do ask the USCitizen Spouse to check with NVC Human in the evenings, around 22:00 EST, via telephone, to check casefile status.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I hope everything I send is complete and no deficiencies.

If you read my reply, I didn't suggest you reply to the email. I suggested you simply wait for them to review what you sent and then they'll email you back that the case is complete. This checklist cover letter is what is supposed to happen when you use the shortcuts.

I second that  I always find that my email updates from them seem to be generated and sent around 1 or 2 am...funny thing is that it is normally when I have called and spoken with someone the previous day..probably just coincidence but sometimes it's self satisfying to think my phone call made the difference
