I don't know, when I was in school we had a class called Home Economics that was a requirement. Among other things like cooking and baking, you got taught about the four food groups and healthy eating.

For some reason it didn't turn into a politic issue, but then Reagan was president so the rubes didn't see government conspiracies in everything. Next thing you know gym class is going to become controversial.

Thanks to their (mostly, GOP) defunding efforts, gym classes are being cut unfortunately.

The federal government should not be involved in funding education to begin with.

In most areas it really isn't either.

That's what state/local taxes are for. Usually property taxes.
