I-864

Hello.

My name is Brei and my husbands name is Jake. We got him over from the UK on a K-1 Visa and now are in the dark depths of the AOS forms. Concerning the I864...I am 24 and Jake is 22. We are living with my parents who are more than willing to help us out as sponsers. However, I do realize that I am required to fill out an I-864 regardless, because I am the petitioner and his spouse. I do not understand how I fill out the household/assets/tax part of the form, as I've been in school for the last 5 years and do not own a household. My father does and he is going to be the main sponser. Anyone been in my position before of have any advice on how much of the form I am supposed to complete? Any help would be wonderful!!!

Brei,

You are going to be the (main) sponsor. Since you live with your parents your father could either be a Joint Sponsor or a Household Member, whichever he and you might prefer.

You fill out the whole form. Some of the answers may be 'zero' or 'none', depending on circumstances.

One may own their place of residence (or they may rent it) but they do not own a household. A household is a group of people living together, a concept, not a physical place of residence.
