Hi, everyone! I didn't make any copies of my petitions of K-3 or I-130. How important is that? And can I fill out those applications again and make copies of passport and send it to my husband? And don't they will have all those forms anyway at interview? Thank you

Hi Yelena,

You are a IR-1/CR-1, aka: an I-130 application. They do not use K3 anymore according to the USCIS & DOS.

@ Copy of File: It's important to keep at least one duplicate copy of your file "for the just in case" [uSCIS / NVC] has lost or misplaced a file or document or two in the past. For me, I did one for him, one for me and one original for the USCIS. Yes, when you go to interview they will have the file with them; but what about if the USCIS sends you an RFE in order to process your NOA2 Approval? Better to be prepared to make a simple correction & have an extra document copy on hand, then having to go and run around and get the documents all over again. STRESS!!!!

It's easy enough for your husband to make copies before he submits it formally to the Dept of State. Better yet, if possible scan the original file in the pc for peace of mind later on and if you're wondering at that time what you had written and sent in. I know for me this saved my sanity a few times! You can always have the option to send to each other via email this way and also the easy access to print anything you might need.

If you have already submitted the file, then it would probably be a good idea to try and duplicate the documents (and make a copy for hubby and one for you). There have been instances where the Embassy has asked for a copy of a particular document that they had previously submitted and it was suppose to be in the file but the CO said it went missing. The applicants happen to have their copy of file with them and it saved them from Administrative Processing and a delay for their visa.

Hope this helps!

And if you get time, please come to the Turk Kahvesi Thread and introduce yourself!

I honestly don't know if it's that important. As long as the center get's your file, I think that you would be all right. You will get your NOA1, so it's out of your hands. But don't take my word for it.
