Nowadays I dont believe that gays are as widely discriminated against in Hollywood. I wish I could say the same about conservatives.

It's full of one line quotes. None of which give you any actual, first hand knowledge on the hiring process on Friends. You're letting your imagination run away with you.

As to "Hollywood loves the hell out of conservatives", try it the other way around. Friends was a massively popular show, though not to my taste. I find it hard to believe that the audience who supported it was a strictly liberal audience.

I own all 10 seasons, a big fan of the show and a conservative as you already know. I never had any doubt that Kauffman was a liberal but it didnt stop me from watching the show.

What I'm saying is that most of Hollywood views conservatives as stupid and discriminate against them.

I am not going to dispute that most people in creative positions in Hollywood likely voted for Obama in the last election. We can debate why that might be, but most of the decisions on what shows to make are made by business people - people who decide based on how likely they are going to get a return on their investment. It really doesn't matter who that person is - if they continue to deliver the revenue, they will continue to work in show business.

Incidentally, some of the biggest TV showrunners - for House, 24, Desperate Housewives - are card carrying Republicans. So is one of the most successful producers, Jerry Bruckheimer (CSI and a bunch of other stuff) They have successful shows - they continue to work. They stop having successful shows, they stop getting work.

Of course, a lot of people in Teapartyland would call these guys RINOs, but I'm having a hard time crying for the plight of the conservative in Hollywood

Is quite different than a liberal/conservative conflict. And that's where I introduce the idea, the possibility, that perhaps it isn't political at all, but something more to do with talent- as Hollywood isn't exactly a political theater.

I remember some stats on political party membership breakdowns from members of SAG, from last year.

It did not name names, but gave percentages and total counts.

You fellas see that ? It was actually in a SAG newsletter, uhm, September 2010, maybe??
