Greetings fellow RUBbers! I recently found this forum and the posted guides were very beneficial during the K1 filing process for my now girlfriend/future fiancee.

I will be visiting her in June in Russia for a week and would like to propose, but considering that I was 4 when I was in Moscow last time (I was born there, moved to US at early age), I really have no idea where (if any) all the romantic places are in Moscow and Saint Petersburg (we'll be staying 3 days in each city). Any suggestions/advice will be greatly appreciated!

Moscow is a VERY EXPENSIVE city. Lots of things to do but I would look more at St Petersburg. I think that it is a much prettier city and it is a lot cheaper as well. There seems to be more to do in St Petersburg as well. Bolshoi is nice and romantic if you like the theater. I think they still do not have the Old Bolshoi open yet due to renovation. Many rivers run through Moscow so a nice romantic walk through one of the many parks is nice. I stayed at the Hotel Pekin in Moscow and it was an OK hotel. The restaurant was not great for dinner though - bad shashlik.

If you can , do it in St Petersburg, the hotels are cheaper and better than in Moscow; there is a season of white nights (polar nights ) right now, with only couple of hours of actual nighttime in during month of June; so it would be better there. Visit places like Hermmitage< Russian Museeum , Petropavlovskay krepost, Avrora, and so on - this ciy is the cultural center of Russia!

Peter in June is awesome. I wish I was going to be there this June.

I think anywhere you are with her can be romantic, if there isn't a lot of noise and crowds around. Just find a nice quiet spot maybe with a good view and pop the question. If she wants to marry you, it won't really matter. It is about the moment, not the place.

Good luck and welcome to VJ and the RUB.

Night Flight just opened on Nevsky, so you don't even have to go to Moscow.

There are two now?

When I tried to explain to some co-workers back here where the center of the universe is I would tell them it's the Night Flight in Moscow. I guess now I have to find a spot equidistant between them. That is the center of the universe. Or, maybe there are two centers?

Agreed!!! St. Petersburg was a very romantic place and has many activities to choose from. Hermitage is a wonderful place to start.

Yeah, there are two. I have never been to either, though.

I've been to the one in Moscow. It was a very funny time, actually. My buddy and I didn't realize the girls were "for hire" and we thought we were quite studly when all of these supermodel-looking girls flocked around us. They had a good laugh when they asked, "Is this your first time here?"

We just couldn't believe so many gorgeous women wanted to make "sex party" with us all at the same time. "We've died and gone to heaven." And then, like most things, reality set in and it hit us that we didn't have nearly enough money for any of the girls in there, let alone all of them. We still had a good time though and I think the girls genuinely enjoyed hanging out with guys their own age, dancing, playing pool, and being "chased" instead of "purchased."

For the record, I hope heaven is like that... minus the fees, of course!

For those of you who haven't been, imagine walking into a place where there are about 40 women sitting along the side of the bar and every single one of them is a 10+... and "interested" in you. I guess it's kind of like those "opulence" commercials. What's really funny is the ATM is the main feature of the entryway. HA!

I doubt it.

See, the magic of that place is not that there are women willing to leave after you pay them to do anything your heart desires. The magic of that place is there are so many women who will leave after you pay them to do whatever.

Like most things when dealing with women, it's not what you actually get... it's what it looks like while you're getting it!
