I have a friend who sadly has gotten malaria and was planning on coming to the USA. Can this friend still come over my friend is going to be taking a medical examination will they still allow my friend over or will they not allow my friend in because of this stupid malaria...Thanks for any help on this question...

28 Sept 2006- Handover I-129F form & documents to VFS Office,New Delhi

12 Oct 2006- Interview Time

12 Oct 2006- Interivew awesome,Embassy holded my Visa due to unable to show the I-134 Affidavit of Support

19 Oct 2006- Handed Over the I-134 Affidavit of Support to VFS Office,New Delhi

01 Nov 2006- Visa been Issued wooohooooo

14 Nov 2006- Recieved Passport with K1 Visa and a Sealed Envelope

23 Nov 2006- POE Chicago..way easy..asked easy questions, boarded the flight for Phoenix to meet me lol!!

07 Dec 2006- Applied for SSN

21 Dec 2006- Recieved the SSN

16 Dec 2006- Got Married with my Jatin woooohoooooo!!!

Well, after he heals, I think he will be ok. As far as I know they don't test for malaria.

I have a friend from Nigeria thats had malaria several times. They allowed him to immigrate here, so I dont think it will be a problem.

There are 4 types of Malaria. Some are not that bad while others make the person extremely sick with fever, etc. Basically it is a parasite that lives in the blood and goes dormant in the liver. Depending on the type, it could lay dormant in the liver for months and then recycle into the blood stream.

If the person is going thru an acute phase, I would doubt they would feel like traveling to the US right now. Rather than worrying if the person can come to the US, I wonder how he/she feels right now and if he/she is receiving proper treatment?

There in this doc is mentioned malaria, but not that in mention that it will cause deny.

Probably doctor decides this. Ask consular doctor.

Hi Caagirl,

This is information pertaining to Indian embassies. The rule states that tehy do need to identlfy malaria in teh medical, however, if the eprson is healed and the doctor states that the virus is out of the person's system, then that person will be allowed to travel to the US and hecne granted visa.

This is confirmed with the Indian embassy itself, and is applciable on both non-immigrant and immirgant visas.
