Hello all!

So now I've officially learned enough to post in the right place. :)

A couple questions...has anyone here gone through the AOS process in Houston, TX? How long did it take, or how long has it taken so far?

Also, another question...my fiance and I are now planning on marrying earlier than we previously planned, to get his PR (and eventually citizen) status process rolling...however, once we marry, we still won't live in the same household for approximately one year. I'm a student in Houston, TX, and he's a student in Waco, TX. He will graduate with his PhD and move to Houston around our first wedding anniversary.

How do we handle this? Do we change all of his stuff (accounts, etc) so that his primary residence is officially here with me in Houston, so that he's a student away from home for a year, so to speak? Will the immigration folks frown upon that? Would it help to have a joint bank account and/or other joint accounts for proof?

BTW, we plan to marry June 25, 2006 and start his AOS process immediately after the wedding. Oh, and he's currently on an F1 student visa.

AOS timelines are Here and you can sort by District Office for approximate trends in your local area based on VJ users that have filled in their timelines. If that doesn't work, look for "immigration timelines" at the top of the page, and the click on Adjustment of Status. There are a few different ways of viewing the stats.

That should help with your first question, the rest I'm afraid, I can't help you with.

Thank you for pointing me to the timeline! I feel like such a dumb newbie...lol...but I'm learning!! :)

As far as the fine nuances of our case, I think we might just invest in the advice of an immigration attorney...I really want to make sure we do it all right the first time.
