Hi all,

We are going thru the process (I-130), and when the time comes for the embassy interview, the passport is required. Is it ok for my wife to present her valid passport with her original, maiden name, or is it necessary for her to get a new one because she has chosen to add my surname to her own? Her national I.D. has her married name and the immigration forms have her married name. Will they accept her valid passport with her maiden name???? Help please!!! Thanks!

Yes she can change her passport when ready and you have everything else in her married name. All you need is your marriage cert to prove her married name and then when she is ready she can get the passport organized.

Divorced !st November 2012.

Married only 2 years 1 month

She needs a new passport in her current legal name. She should get it preferably before the petition is approved. This is not a K1 fiance visa subject.
