We called DOS when we saw people with very similar timelines getting interview dates. We found out today but think we might have been assigned a date last week! Good luck! :)

Hi guys.

So sorry for the confusion of my last post. I have updated my profile so hopefully that helps. Little back story:

We did apply for a K-1 visa, and got married in August. We filed the AOS (Adjustment of Status) and also filed for an Advance Parole so my husband could go back to England in October for a wedding. We misunderstood the instructions and he went back before the AP was issued, so we had to start the process over with the I-130.

So, the I-130 was approved, and we went through all the normal steps including paying fees online and sending packtets to the NVC. Now the Embassy has the AOS (Affidavit of Support) and the Visa Packet, we are just waiting on my husband's medical, which is tomorrow. So for those of you that have had your packets sent to the Embassy, what happens now? I see that some of your have received your interview date before your medical, but we have been informed that my husband will not get an interview date until they receive and process his medical results. So I'm wondering if anyone has a timeline of when the interview date might be after his medical tomorrow. Also, I'm still really confused about packet 3 and 4, as we have already filled out all of those forms and sent all the required documents.

Again, sorry for the confusion. Hope this explanation helps.

Shara--The Packet3 and 4 talk is more about the K1 process. It's kind of outdated too since there are no "packets" any longer.

Packet 3- Letter from London saying they are ready for beneficiary to fill out the DS Forms to send to London, gather their birth certificate, Affidavit of Support, etc to bring to the interview, get a medical

Packet 4 - Appointment letter from Embassy

Your CR1 process is mostly done at NVC. That's where you sent your DS 230, your visa payment, birth certificate, police report, Affidavit of Support, etc. You're just waiting on an appointment. There's no Packet 3 for you like these people are discussing. And your documents are turned in before you case even gets to London

Here's what London says http://london.usembassy.gov/imnvcoct.html

Sorry again, I must be out of my mind! I didn't even notice this was for K-1 Visas! Although I did see some CR-1 visas as well. Thanks for the info though Nich-Nick, I think I am just itching to get some answers. It's been almost a year since I got married, and I'm getting a little ancy to get my husband back.

On the bright side, I am well versed in visa applications in case I decide to get a job for USCIS or the NVC he he

Thanks again.

 Woah the 31st?! Gosh that is far off but I am thinking it does have everything to do with your wedding date. Our wedding date is August 6th and we haven't received our interview date yet, well to be more specific they haven't even logged our packet 3 yet although it was signed for last Tuesday so we know it's there. Anyway this has got me a little worried to say the least. I'm sorry yours it set so late but I am happy that at least you'll make your wedding day! I guess that's the shiny side of the coin in all this agonizing waiting, paperwork and planning right?

Yeah, that's nuts! I forgot to tell my future husband to put the date he's planning to travel instead of the wedding date! I spoke to the consulate, though, and they advised us to send an email (with email code) requesting an earlier date due to travel plans / wedding plans. We have to complete required courses for our wedding and with a date like that we wouldn't have time so they suspect i'll be able to move it no problem. xo

He was hoping for end of July. We'll see what they say in the reschedule email.

I hope they do! The dates seem totally random though. I got my date AFTER three people on these boards and yet my interview is 2 weeks BEFORE them =/ All I put on my DS-2001 was "As soon as I get my visa I intend to travel" I didn't actually put a date.
