I called DOS yesterday and the guy I spoke to said the interview has not been scheduled yet, thought everything has been logged in ok. I wonder how long this will take. Anyone in the same shoes? I might have to call them everyday...lol

Snooky, you will need your birth certificate (long form), passport, I-134 affidavit of support and supporting docs, divorce decree (if applicable), receipt for payment of visa, Police certificate, And 3 color US passport photos (I think they only need 2 and one is for the medical but better safe than sorry) there is a list here for you to review: http://london.usembassy.gov/interview_documents.html

As for your fiancé going too I have read it is ok although they could possibly be denied entry. So be prepared for that possibility.

Think that's it! Good luck and keep us posted!!!

In the mean time my fiancé had his medical on Wednesday the 15th of June. Almost didn't make it due to the trains not running on Wednesday morning! It was crazy stressful but a hefty taxi fare later and it's done. PHEW! The packet 3 was returned and signed for but not logged in yet so it's wait, wait, wait for us as well. To be continued I guess...

Hi guys!

So a few questions I hope you all can answer.

We sent our AOS packet with income, tax, and support documents, and the Visa packet with birth certificate, police certificate, etc to the NVC. Our case was expedited so everything was sent to the Embassy. We waited a month but did not receive anything telling us what to do next, so I emailed the IV email address and received the following response:

"Your file was received from NVC on 07JUN, once we have received your cleared medical report from Knightsbridge Drs we will schedule your appt. You should call them on 0207 4867822 to arrange an appointment."

So my husband scheduled his medical for June 23. I am wondering if you know what happens after that. What is packet 3 and packet 4? What else could we possibly have to send them? They have all of our forms- the originals- so what else is left?

Any help you can offer would be great! Thanks.

Packet three is the letter from the embassy mentioning the forms you nee to send to them. The package you will send to them will include forms DS156(2), DS-157(2), DS156K, DS-230(part1) and maybe DS-2001 (readiness form). You can send the readiness form when you have all supporting documents and police certificate ready. Packet 4 is the letter the embassy sends to you to inform you of your interview date and time.

Hope this helps.

I'm totally confused by your post.

  1. Your profile thing says you filed for K1 but you mention a husband. K1 is not for a spouse.
  2. "We sent our AOS packet" --AOS is done in the US by K1s. If you're CR1, you don't adjust status. A CR1 is an immigrant visa and entitles you to a greencard without adjusting.
  3. If you're K1, you wouldn't have sent those documents to NVC.
  4. If you're CR1 (spouse) (immigrant visa) the packet 3 and 4 doesn't really apply to you so disregard Snooky's reply.

Yep, I see that and you gave a good answer for a K1. But I'm wondering if K1 is really what they are filing for. And if so, why did they send their documents to NVC? That a step CR1s go through.

Did you call for an earlier date?

Nope. I only phoned today just to see if my medical and other bits had been logged, but lady said "Not yet, but you have been issued an interview date so that must mean someone has all of your paperwork. A letter was sent to you on Friday 17th so you should get it today or tomorrow. The interview date is for 11th July at 8am." I did ask to see if I could get an earlier date/cancellation, but she said "We don't offer cancellations for CR-1 visa interviews." so I just left it at that.
