For everyone between NOA2 and interview in London

I think I would crack up if it wasn't!!! I was there for 6 weeks last time so I can't complain too much :-P

It just seems that this nvc/embassy phase is taking much longer than all estimates that I had seen. I took so long to get the police check and medical out of the way that we lost any progress we had made by getting our NOA2 by june. The woman at the embassy actually said I had got it in quickly! I was like... HOW???? but my doctors held up the medical thing by taking ages to write me a piece of evidence. I had the medical on the 10th, I would be well on the way now but it only got logged this week :-(

Seriously cannot stress the importance of getting the police check done as soon as, even before the NOA2 arrives. It seems that the medical results determine when you get your packet 4. GRRRR.

You're spot on there. I got my NOA2 on June 24. I was ecstatic!!!! But then it took 1 month at NVC (much longer than VJ suggests due to who knows what), and then three weeks to get logged here (the embassy suggests two).

What you are hearing is likely... okay it takes two weeks from when you get your medical to get your packet 4 (not really) and then they schedule the interview about a month out (not really). They add a few days here, a few there. You know. I thought I'd be done about a week from now going on the "standards" (we were going to get a ticket for October 1), but there will never be absolutes in this process.

I'm sorry you are stuck. It must not be long now!!

Hehe I downloaded firefox when I was in the US last and it keeps correcting realise to realize, favourite to favorite and so on... I better get used to it or if I "help" my future kids do their homework it may be obvious they didn't do it themselves... :-P

I kinda want to be defiant though!

I gave my fiance a computer from the US, she is using its corrections to learn how to spell our way. Her biggest shock was that we see manual transmissions as entry level or cheaper cars, not the better ones as you do. Plus having the gear shifter on the driver's right puts her in no hurry to get a license! :-)

how are your wedding plans coming on?

Wedding plans... a mess :) We're just doing a super minimal thing with parents etc., but it still gets complicated, especially doing it alone! I can't imagine trying to plan anything with all those variables and time constraints, so I'm glad he and I both feel this way. I guess you do have 90 days, but that's not long to plan something like that if you want what has become the "typical american wedding."

So yeah, everything has it's complications with our relationship, but after this process, I'll have the patience of a saint  I just cannot wait to be with him and I don't care how it happens. As for the planning, I think we've both put more effort into planning the honeymoon than the wedding, and I'm certainly looking forward to that!! :P

Haha I was trying to see your timeline there and I see you got your medical the same time my fiance did- smack in the middle of the riots. I was really worried about him as he lived in one of the impacted areas, but he still went of course. Then we tried to send the packet 3 and all the post offices were closed! Good grief!! Anyway, you haven't had any news? If so, that is awful!! And, bonus, monday is a holiday. I hope something happens for you because I know how it feels to wait. I am so grateful for my date, and I hope you get yours next week!

The wait for the interview is unbearable. We sent our packet 3 on august 6th and it never made it to the embassy for whatever reason. I had my medical on august 12th and it was logged on the 15th. Resent packet 3 on the 24th and now just sat around waiting. DOS have said both have been received and are still being processed. In the packet 3 we had included our provisional wedding date of september 28th but I am pretty much certain that wont be happening. Im hoping for my interview letter this week but im really at the end of my tether with this whole process. Its awful!

I hope for the best for you, it must be this week! Unfortunately there were the two holidays (last monday: British and this monday: American) which might be slowing things down. Unfortunately I think that wedding date will not happen, but maybe they are holding off giving you a date in the hopes that someone will cancel their interview? I don't think there are slots available before October, but I have heard people calling and looking for cancellations to take someone's spot. I would never cancel my interview (the holy grail), but there must be some people who do because you can see it in the history of this forum! I wish you luck!

Nope, no news. FI just tried to call DoS but he keeps forgetting about the time difference and they were closed, missed them by 15 minutes!

my provisional date was the 29th, really wanted to do it around then so we could get our honeymoon out of the way before the weather gets #######. I was told on the phone "you never know" cause I paid early and got my forms back early but maybe the wife was just trying to be nice :-P

So we should call tomorrow and hopefully find out.

The riots were really bad the day before I went but I only saw four armoured vans all day, no policemen anywhere! I actually tried to hand deliver my application to the embassy cause the glue came off the envelope before I posted it but they would not take it of course, so I sent it when I got home.

having a small wedding is probably the best idea in this situation, but we are having 60 guests. I think we can pull it off! picking a weekday evening so not to collide with people's jobs too much.

So many K1s, I feel out of place! Anyway, I'm now waiting for the IV fee to be received by the NVC (we got an RFE for it because it rejected after we sent the paperwork) and then it's countdown to interview. Them's going to be some painfully long days...

Ready for my grand ol' timeline? Alrighty then!

10-05-10 - Married in California
06-13-11 - I-130 approved
10-13-11 - CASE COMPLETE!
12-02-11 - Interview - 221g due to a washed passport
12-17-11 - POE - YYC (preclearance in Canada)

2011 to 2013 - Life happened

06-26-13 - Divorce finalized

10-07-13 - I-751 divorce filer paperwork journey begins

07-03-14 - ROC interview - approval pending delayed background checks

07-25-14 - APPROVED! 10 year GC is finally in production!

08-01-14 - 10 year GC in hand. The journey has finally ended. :)

2014 to 2020 - Living paperwork-free and focused on me!

11-09-20 - N-400 filed online - welcome back VJ fam!

6-22-21 - Interview in Nashville, approved! And then...

6-22-21 - Pledge of Allegiance taken. Holy shirtballs I'm a US Citizen.

I've spent so many years in the loving arms of the USCIS, but now it's time to fledge. So long, my friends, may all your journeys also end on the doorstep of whatever you're searching for.

Hello, i just wanted to ask how your process is going? we are just stating and are both full of questions without more specific answers. Its all very complicated. Thanks to all of you for putting in your info. It helps with the questions and worry.

Chris is in Manchester and i am in AZ. we just sent our I-129F off and he is coming to AZ at the end of Nov 2011 to wait it out together. it is scary but we just cant manage the time apart any longer. Do you have any advice that might help us out regarding money, timelines and unforseen problems.

Thanks agian, Lei and Chris

Get the acpo police check asap! Its valid for a year and you have to have the certificate before you can make your medical appointment.

Don't get caught up in the process too much. It shouldn't be too stressful. Obsessing about it makes it worse, I did that a few times ;-)

Don't let him overstay under any circumstance cause if they find out he will be denied! How long were you planning on having him over for? Visa waiver programme only permits 90 days. They ask you about it at interview too. he could always come, leave then go back. But by that time you would be close to medical and interview time and he would need to be in the UK anyway.
