That's how I was. I wanted to write and get a closer date but after a lot of thought decided it was best not to. I'm actually glad I didn't because a package of stuff I sent him that he needs for his interview vanished in the mail... If it isn't there by Monday I have to send it again and pray it arrives by the 23rd because his interview is the 24th!

Oh dear. We've had a few things go missing in the post also. First it was the original receipt for my ring and then my packet 3 to London.

I would send him all the documents again today, just to be on the safe side and keep your mind at ease.

Hello, another person waiting between NOA2 and the interview chiming in. :-)

My fiance just today got his letter with an interview date: September 13. So far things are going pretty smoothly, his medical a few weeks ago went fine although he had to have a letter sent from his GP regarding treatment for depression some years ago. I was also nervous about the timing of my job going permanent - to back up my I-134 I sent a letter from my employer hiring me on, a copy of my contract, a letter explaining the contract-to-hire process in my case, my pay stubs from the last month of checks with the temp agency, and my last tax statement. I will also e-mail scans of my newest pay stubs as soon as I get my next paycheck on Friday. I'm probably not worried enough, but I think that should cover it - I earn enough salary, it's just a little odd with the contract-to-hire thing. I need to do a search on the number he will need to call in order to pre-pay for the visa, apparently it wasn't in the letter (I assumed it would be stated somewhere in the letter).

Wishing everyone luck!

Waiting for my fiance's packet 4 to arrive and our interview date. We're not getting married for months because he is so worried about the system failing us (thank you 1 month delay at NVC), but I want some certainty! I'll give them a call next Friday.

Brendan is freaking out a little. He said to me... "What I'm doing right now is trying to figure out if the MRV fee that I already paid via my boss's card and the $350 fee they say I'll need to pay at the embassy in person are the same thing, and if having the receipt for that means I don't need the money. I remember you said that Rick didn't need to pay anything at the interview."

So yeah... will he need to pay anything at the interview?

There is one $350 fee for the visa. If he paid in advance, he doesn't pay for anything but the courier. There is no "express delivery". Yoou can pay extra to get it earlier in the day, like by 8am if you don't have somebody to receive it later that day. It's paying for a time slot, not an earlier day.

The embassy wesite discusses the courier service if you haven't read that yet. http://london.usembassy.gov/mail.html

There are links on the page to the courier website where you can research the prices.

Thanks everyone. I didn't figure there was anything else we had to pay for but he gets kind of crazy when getting stuff together. He's on the train to London right now! We're extremely excited but also nervous that we might be denied for some paperwork technicality. I'm sure we all get those fears when it comes time for this!

London won't deny you on a paperwork technicality. If paperwork is filled out wrong or missing, they just tell you the visa is approved pending him mailing the correct paperwork back to them.

My fiance got kinda crazy with the paperwork too. I was even there with him and went over it with him to make sure he understood. Even had post it tapes on the forms to find them easily. So he gets to the document lady and got all frustrated and confused, and just shoved his whole accordian folder at her to dig through choose what she wanted. Is it a guy thing to pretend they understand perfectly, but they aren't really paying attention to us?
