So I had my interview today and I was APPROVED!!!

I was so nervous, still can't believe its finally over with and wasn't a dream! The woman was so friendly and upbeat, and said it'd take 7 working days to get my passport back. Does that sound about right? So I should plan on booking my plane ticket next week?

I'll post a review up later. So thrilled!

Good luck with everybody who is still waiting for theirs :)

Seven days is about right - interviewed on a Monday, passport and brown envelope arrived the following Monday.

I held off buying the plane ticket until I saw it appear on the DX website for delivery - at least then you know that it is on its way.

I fly two weeks tomorrow - and can't wait! Finish work this Friday, so these are my last working days for this year, probably laughing.gif The joys of a K1 and waiting for the EAD after marriage!

16th September sounds about right. Go ahead and email if you have a legitimate reason like a booked flight or set wedding date. No guarantee they'll change it though.

Hi Jingo, here's a draft email incase we decide to ask for an earlier date, do you think it sounds too pushy?

Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for your reply to my preliminary email and the immediate assignment of an Interview Date.

I understand how time consuming and complicated the task of assigning Visa Interviews must be and that I am not guaranteed to be issued a K-1 Visa upon interview but I wish to take this opportunity to ask if there would be any chance at all that I may be assigned an Interview for the same time as you have arranged (9:00 am) but at an earlier date?

Although we understand that there is no concrete guarantee that I will be issued a K-1 Visa following Interview, as indicated in my previous email, my Fiance and I had hoped to keep as close to our original timeline as possible which, (because of our first reply to Packet 3 being lost/misplaced) has been set back around four to six weeks, as noted in my previous email.

Whilst we comprehend that I do not pick or choose my own Intervew Date, in order to resolve this issue and keep to the timeline that both ourselves and our extended families have been arranging around with regard to the Marriage Ceremony, this would mean attending an interview at 9:00am but with a date during the month of August if this is at all feasible with you it would be earnestly appreciated by all involved.

Again, thank you so much for your time and consideration in this matter and your previous speedy response to my email.

Respectfully yours

Hmm I think its well written but to be honest they are so busy and get so many emails that I would be concise and just write a polite sentence or two saying when the interview is, when the wedding/flight is, and if it can be moved for this reason. They'd probably appreciate it if it was quick and easy to read. You have the right email code right? Good luck :)

How about this:

Dear Sir/Madam

I have been assigned an interview date for K1-Visa of September 16th 2011 at 9:00am.

We were hoping to book our Wedding Ceremony for August 26th 2011, as outlined in my cover letter.

Is it possible for you to re-scheduled my interview for 9:00am but for a date sometime during or very close to August 2011.

If this is at all feasible it would be earnestly appreciated by all involved.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration in this matter.

Respectfully yours

I havent called for another code but on the email I received this morning it said "This informal method of responding enables us to respond to you within a shorter time. No record is being made of this correspondence. If you need to e-mail us again, please return this e-mail"

Have you looked at a calendar? This IS August and if you got an interview for tomorrow, you'd be pressed to make an Aug 26 wedding. Is there a reason except you are impatient? Like is somebody shipping out to Afghanistan or having a baby next week without the Dad present? At some point just relax and say "Yay!!! I got an interview" and be happy. Start filling out your AOS papers if you need something else to occupy yourself and take your mind off waiting.
