what's a good search engine online to look up for someone's address? i have only name and picture of my father i haven't seen since childhood.. any suggestions? thank you - pin

My ex-wife was adopted and back in the early 90's I helped her find her family. I had my best success with following leads and calling them. Do you happen to know what line of work he was in? Where was the last known location? I'd start there. Find out where he worked at that time and then you can see if you can get any information such as when he left that job. I went to my local library and thumbed through the phone books for the place we knew where my ex's mother last lived. Eventually I found a sibling who kept her mother's last name.

Have you looked into using a private detective?

I was adopted and found my birthfather and mother in 2 different countries. It was alot of luck, combined with name searches, and just checking people if by chance they are related. I checked the SS death index and found my father there, he had passed away, and through that I found my sisters aunts and uncles. I also found some relatives by just writing to people with the same name in the town I knew my mother was from. Its a little easier to find a male, since they dont change their names. If he was in the service, there's also a website where you can post questions, its like a reunion site for servicemen, but you can post and see if anybody knows him. Im sorry I dont remember the name of it since its been quite some time. I wish you good luck with your search, once you find him, be prepared for anything.

Social Security can send a letter for you, but you will need at least the person's date of birth and place of birth. Having one or both parent's names would help.

Can Social Security help me find a missing person?
