Hi! All,

I am just wondering what factors determine the length of approval time.

I realized most petitioners have families, children, and other issues that need proof and investigation for USCIS; however, it seems some took less than one month and others took several months.

I wonder if the status of the petitioner and parents, such as marriage, divorce, death of spouse, siblings, and many other factors, affect the processing time for I-130?

I am USC, and have no marriage/divorce history, no kid; my parents are in their 50s, healthy, never had any other marriage, and I am the only child they have. Logically, mine should be processed sooner......

Please give your ideas. Thanks all!

did you send an i130 for each of them, petition for parents are filed separartly.

very few petitions take less than 4 months, depending on which service center it is, some can even take up to 7 months, but normally 4 to 5 months.

you need to be patient.

Most of your waiting time is waiting time for your paperwork too. If there are no red flags, the actual file is probably only being worked on for a day or two total, the rest of the time it's waiting in the "IN" tray on some agent's desk.
