Welcome to the US Embassy in Ghana waiting for an interview line. It sucks, but, it is what we have to deal with. They say it is due to the large number of dv lottery awards given to Ghana. The 2010 winners interview process apparently trumps other immigrant visa interviews like ours. Many people have written to numerous senators and congressman even posted comments on the fb page of the US Department of State: Consular Affairs. All we hear is that they are aware of the backlog and doing everything they can do - translation: sit down and wait your turn. http://www.facebook.com/travelgov It sucks, it sucks, it sucks! But, it looks like we are all just stuck in line praying that when the interview comes we don't have any problems or further delays like going into an AP (Administrative Processing) state. This is one boulder that we just can't seem to move.

Staying strong and patient in love and faith!

Ziggy,

From your timeline you are looking at sometime next year probably around June or August for your interview.

I was at the Embassy last year and I asked the African American lady I spoke with at the counter and she said the whole process takes about 12-18mos. I think she was only referring to the Embassy portion now that I think about it.

So we are all playuing the waiting game in the end.

We also have to see what impact the reselection of the dv lottery awards will have on interviews next year. Might be a good thing for those of us waiting on immigrant visa interviews if they decide to delay the interview process next year for that dv lottery group. Who knows - so we all just sit and wait, sometimes cry, but wait and keep working on keeping our relationships strong.
