CDJ online payment mistake

So when I went to the new website to pay the fee and schedule an appointment I accidently put in an extra number in the passport number login area without noticing, and I paid the fee but did not schedule an appointment.

Now when I log in under the correct passport number it says I need to pay the fee in order to schedule the appointment... If I schedule the appointment under the account with the extra digit in the passport number section is this going to be a problem? Should I just call the consulate at this point and maybe schedule through them?

I at least have the payment receipt and there is no passport number on it so I'm hoping it's not a huge problem.

... oops :bonk:

Before you pay again you should try making the appointment over the phone! When the website was new I paid then tried to schedule my appointment. The site kicked me off and when I went back there was no record of payment!!! Luckily I had already e-mailed myself a copy of the receipt with confirmation number. I called the 703# and they easily scheduled me with my confirmation of payment number.

That's actually a good idea-- I do have the payment confirmation, I emailed them and it said that it takes 5 business days to answer emails so I'm waiting to see what they say before I do anything. But since I have the payment confirmation I wonder if I made the appointment over the phone if they could really tell somehow that I made the payment under the wrong passport number on the website.. Do they ask for payment confirmation at the interview?

I still feel so stupid for not double/triple checking the passport number. I think was just so frazzled after filling out that DS-260 I was so excited that I was near the end and .. well I made a boo boo lol

oh no i hope you don't have to make the payment again, that would really suck!! maybe you could call the 703 # and ask them to change your passport number to the correct one...

Just an update incase anyone else ever makes the same mistake I did :bonk:

I called the 703 number and the guys asked if I put in the completely wrong passport number or if it was just one number off, I told him it was just one number (an extra number put in by mistake) and he said that it shouldn't be a problem, I'm not sure if I completely trust that, so I might end up paying the visa fee again .. I also emailed the consulate and let them know the mistake that I made and I am going to wait for their response.. I wanted to schedule an appointment in July but unfortunately you can only schedule an appointment up until the end of June right now, so it's not really a big deal that I have to wait for the email response.

The guy on the phone said that they have the same options as the website so I have to wait anyway (which is really annoying because we need to buy plane tickets and normally the further in advance you buy them the cheaper they are... ) But since I have to wait to schedule the interview, I can wait to see what the consulate says about refunding or transferring the fee over to the account with the correct passport number.

grrr
