Whenever I go to this website http://evisaforms.state.gov/ to fill out the DS-156, I get the following message displayed:

Your system may not meet the minimum requirements. The following problem(s) have been detected:

* Your browser does not appear to meet the minimum required version.

* You do not appear to have the minimum required version of Adobe Acrobat installed.

But I have the latest version of Firefox (on a Mac) and the latest version of Adobe. So I tried it anyway, filled out the form and clicked "continue" but after waiting for over 10 minutes nothing happened, no PDF file was created as it said it would so I figured it doesn't work.

Anyone know how to get around this or what I can do to make it work?

I have a mac too and I just used normal safari... and it worked fine for me.. have you tried it in safari?

For MAC try using Safari. I had no problems with Safari filling out the forms.

Maybe this helps. If you don't have Safari then you may have to download it, but I prefer Safari over Firefox as it is faster. Especially with a MAC. Do you have MAC OSX ? I am sure you have the updates.......

I did try Safari, but it tells me the same thing. I might try filling it out and see if Safari converts it into a PDF...I just assumed since it told me the same as Firefox and Firefox didn't do anything after clicking on "Continue", it would be the same with Safari...

I used firefox 4 on my linux machine and it worked for me with no problems I filled out the form and the clicked the continue button and it opened a pdf file, have you tried to install the user agent switcher add on for fire fox that will allow the Fire Fox browser act like a MS internet explorer browser (I know windows )but is it switchable I use it alot for work because we have sites that only work for IE browsers

One last thing that I can think of do you have a pdf reader installed, this could also be the reason you are not getting anything back once it tries to create the file for you or there is a issue with the browser ability to bring up pdf to display the file just a thought maybe he logs in /var/messages might give you an idea of the problem

Also check you tab settings in fire fox mine is set to open a new tabs in a new window

I just installed that user agent switcher you suggested...how do I use it? Or does it make firefox act like IE automatically just by installing it?

And well I do have Adobe Reader installed, the very newest version. I updated it when I got that warning, but it didn't solve it.

try to use other laptop or computer or in any nearby internet cafe..that happened to me yesterday, it didn't work in my laptop but i tried to open the DS-156 in our computer at work and it works...i downloaded the form and then filled it in and print it out..

The DS156 has to be filled out prior to printing as it is an online electronic version that issues a bar code after you hit continue then you print it out. (unless your consulate does not want the DS156 filled out online) However, ours had to have the barcode on it for it to be accepted.

Someone stated to try and use another computer and that sounds like good advise to me.

Good Luck on getting your forms filled out. I know how stressful any little thing can be.....

And well I do have Adobe Reader installed, the very newest version. I updated it when I got that warning, but it didn't solve it.

From the tools menu you will see the default user agent switcher and you can select IE which will then pop out another menu and select the IE Version and when done you can switch back to the default

I tried to create one earlier today and i was getting an error which looked like they were having an issue on their site so this may not have anything to do with your system but actual problem with the site and tool to create the pages i see someone else has posted ? asking for help too with the same

I think you're right. Seems to be something wrong with a page, applet, or file on their server. I hope they fix it, my fiancee's interview is Thursday morning Manila time. Otherwise, I expect a white slip... :(

My post today deals with the same question as this post:

It worked for fiancée finally this morning. She was able to print out the DS-156 form with the barcode and everything =)

I hope it will work now for Caroline + Angelo as well.
