Lots of people have lost lots of money planning a wedding before the visa is issued

But if you think about it, once the visa is issued, you have 9 months to travel to the US, then 90 days to get married. So...6 momths plus the 90 days is about 9 months to plan a wedding

If you do not like that, then a simple civil ceremoney with a more elaborate party afterwards with family and friends

i can only enter once after the visa is issued right? we basically want to move immediately after its issued...and we are doing a simple am wedding with a brunch. i think when i go visit in august we will pick 2 or 3 vendors of each and once the interview medicals are booked we should be able to guess better right? i will leave very detailed lists with FI of exactly what i want so he can secure everything...

the thing just guessed my noa2 around oct-nov..which will put us end of hockey season and i wnated him at interview etc...and didnt really want a winter wedding...and if its playoffs i cant plan a dman thing...UGGGGGGHHH

We disregarded the advice of not doing wedding planning - and just filed REALLY far in advance to avoid any hiccups.

(We filed early September 2010, all the steps in between, had an interview in March, and wedding this coming August.)

You can either try something like that - or to be completely sure of everything - wait til you have your visa in hand :)

edited: if you do want to start the planning process, you can start by looking into a dress/tux, start thinking about what music you want, decide on a colour scheme, etc.

how do any of you handle wedding planning when we have no timeline whatsoever to guess when visas will be issued? im applying for k1? really frusturated wnat to plan...
