Mentioning which step you're at would help us give you advice. A timeline in your signature would help too.

I will assume you just sent in your application to either VSC or CSC and are waiting for your first Notice of Action (NOA1). If that's the case, you should receive your NOA1 in a few weeks which is just a letter confirming they received your K-1 (I-129F) petition.

Your file will spend about 6 months at USCIS waiting for their approval, which they will inform you with NOA2. Then, USCIS will transfer your file through National Visa Center (NVC) which takes 2-3 weeks. It will get assigned a local consulate case number (MTL0000000000) then will be sent to the foreign consulate. Most likely Montreal. Montreal is notoriously backlogged and they will ask you to provide Packet 3 and then book your medical examination and schedule an appointment with them (Packet 4). After 2 months you should then have scheduled your appointment with them. Expect a 10 months to a year long wait until your visa is issued. You have a lot of time to gather everything.

You cannot speed the process but you can ensure you have everything on hand when they ask for it.

Everything you will need down the road has been mapped out in the guides here : http://www.visajourney.com/content/guides
