Help!

I was just reading the visa application form, and there's a part where it says to state whether I've been refused entry to the US. Will I have to say yes if I "voluntarily withdrew" my application for admission to the US (they sent me home due to lack of ties) and also I have a previous visa denial....I'm freaked out as to how much this will affect me and if it could lead to a denial?? Does anyone have experience with this? my previous visa denial was an O-1 (artist work visa) and as i said, I'm not sure if I was "refused entry to the US" since it was apparently voluntary??? Please help me if anyone has gone through this. I'm one month away from NOA2 (well, hopefully....)

thanks!

Don't worry. The denial and voluntarily withdrawal won't have a bearing on the visa. Lots of Canadians have had these. The Consulate will know about it because there will be a flag on your file in their database. Just explain the circumstances in the application. They'll already know, anyway. When you get to the interview they'll ask you about it, then remove the flag. (Some have forgotten to remove the flag so you'll have to ask them to.) If you come to the Canada Regional Forum you'll find lots of members who have gone through the same thing.

About one year ago I was denied an L1b visa. The company I work for had petitioned for me. A month after that I tried crossing to go shopping and they denied me entry for not having strong enough ties to Canada. Less than a week ago I had my interview for K1 visa in Montreal. The interview was less than 5 mins, she asked me if I had ever been denied entry to the states and I explained what happened, never even asked about the work visa denial. I was fretting the entire process over this too. As long as you never lied at POE and you didn't get denied the visa for fraud or false documents..stuff like that. You should be fine! She never said anything about taking a flag off though..maybe it's different because my petition got denied I never got to the intervew part. ONe thing I would do different if I could go back is really try to enjoy your last year in Canada and not fret so much over the process, it made me so miserable waiting this out and now that it's so close to leaving everyone I really wish I had a different outlook this entire time. Good luck and just make sure you answer yes to being denied entry and that you had been denied the visa before..everything will be fine!

I was denied entry twice, best thing to do is to disclose EVERYTHING - espeically since you admit you already lied to them.

Keep your visa easy to approve by telling them everything, it won't have a bearing on the visa - just like it didn't for me. The CO simply laughed, pointed at my husband and said "wanted to see him I guess"

Good luck

YeaH, last time I went through the officer kinda just looked at me like I was a notorious criminal, and was shaking his head like, "alright, whadda ya trying to pull now mugsy." haha! I asked him if when they scanned my passport my mugshot came up and he said basically! So, I just told him that I know now how bad it looked last time and that this time I was prepared, and then he told me what I needed to do to make sure I could get through, and he told me I would go to secondary every time until I went thru AOS. Thank you everyone for your replies and the links and such. It really is very helpful!!!
