Can I apply for a Student visa?

Just wanted to add.. I applied for graduate school last year and got accepted but to be considered for the program I had to take the TOEFL, GRE and also have to have my transcript from my university validated by World Education Services or WES to make sure that my undergrad was equivalent to a US undergrad. I start this fall so I am really excited!!!! I did not get a student visa though because I told the school I was on a k1 and would adjust status before school started.

I am now helping my cousin obtain a student visa to attend college here in the US. She was asked to have the TOEFL, SATs and also do WES, so you might need that too. Most schools ask for it for any intl student.

As for finances, my family and fiance were my sponsors. (I only had to show it to the school and not the consulate)

Grades definitely matter because when you have your transcript validated, they will indicate the number of units you've taken and what your GPA is in US standards.. In most cases you need at least a 3.0 and sometimes that is not even good enough anymore.

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png
