Hello all .

My I-129F was approved on MAY , 19, 2011 AND sent directly to Bamako-Mali according to National Visa Center.

I am seriously confused about where exactly K1 interviews are done for Malian fiance(es)?

Bamako Mali OR Dakar Senegal?. .

Also, Bamako is not listed on Department of State Website for US Accredited Medical EXAMINERS.

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3739.html#Preparing_for_med_exam

I called US Embassy in Bamako this morning but the Embassy Rep advised me to sent my inquiries by e-mail..

I will e-mail the embassy right now but meanwhile I really need VJ family inputs specially those with or had their cases

related to US Embassy in Bamako Mali. Is there any web link with this Embassy specific for K1 processing. Their website make mention of K1.

once for the Form to file (DS-156/K)and a link to department of State website for processing fees ($350.00 per k Visa)

Any input will be appreciated

Best REGARDS

Please be advised that the U.S. Embassy Bamako does not currently process immigrant visas for Mali. Malian immigrant visas are processed by U.S. Embassy in Dakar, Senegal.

For more information on Immigrant visas please visit the website for the US Embassy, Dakar, Senegal.

Quote taken directly from this page on the Embassy's website.

K1 visas are only issued by immigrant visa posts.

Thanks for the prompt response..

Now i am little confused here. K1 appears like a hybrid between Non & Immigrant Visa. Will Bamako- Mali transfer petition to Dakar? contact the beneficiary and explain the process? or should i work out this here with US-ICE?. According to NVC petition is already in Mali which is not responding. Am i being impatient? since petition was approved May , 19/2011

Please help anyone with K1 BAMAKO-Mali experience..

Best regards

ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) is an agency you will not be dealing with at all during this process.

Since the file has left USCIS, you are done with there until it's time to file for Adjustment of Status (AOS).

K1 visas are non-immigrant visa's but they have immigration intent and are thus only issued by IV posts. As I already posted, the Bamako Embassy only issues non-immigrant visas EXCEPT K visas. K visa applicants from Mali must go to Dakar.

For K1 petitions, the NVC is a mail stop for the file enroute to the appropriate Embassy/Consulate. If they no longer have the file, there is nothing they can do.

:ot: One would think they would catch those little errors before sending a file :ot2:

I don't know Bamako will automatically forward the file to Dakar or not. You may have to keep trying to contact Bamako and you may have to tell them to send the file to Dakar.

After reading this a little more carefully, did you say that the petition is already in Mali? Did the NVC give you a case number? It should start with a DKR2011, and if it does, then you're good to go, it will get to Dakar. If not, then you could try calling the embassy in Mali. The embassy in Mali is sometimes really slow to respond on e-mail. I would try e-mailing the embassy in Senegal too. Have you talked to NVC on the phone?

Dear KNW

In fact today 05/31/2011 i called NVC which confirmed that the petition was received 05/27/2011

and not send yet. I also received my e-mail response from US Embassy in Bamako. Their e-mail stated what you said;

Petition are sent directly to Dakar. The Embassy officer promised to get in touch with Dakar and update me as soon as possible.

I did not get NVC number. Should i keep calling NVC until i get a number?

Thanks

You could call them or e-mail them to get a case number - you'll need it to schedule your interview. They should send something in the mail too. (The case number will be DKR2011XXXXX) If the NVC just received the petition, it might not have been sent out yet. They usually have a pretty fast turn-around. You can e-mail the nvc if you don't feel like calling, they were really quick about responding to my e-mails. And once Dakar gets your petition they should send you an e-mail confirming. Then you can schedule your interview, another feat unto itself hahahaha. You have to get a special card with a pin number to call their number for scheduling interviews, but once you get that, its super easy. And the embassy schedules interviews realllly fast, they had openings for a week after my petition got there. I ended up requesting a date a couple of weeks later to give my fiance time to get everything prepped and get to senegal to do medical stuff first (he took a bus from bamako to dakar). They only schedule interviews on tuesdays/thursdays and you pick up your visa the next tuesday/thursday, which is a little annoying. But anyway, that was a long-winded response to your petition seems to be on the right track! And you can get your case number from NVC, plus then you can provide it if you need to e-mail the US embassy in dakar, makes it easier for them to answer questions!
