The DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application, is a fully integrated online application form that is used to collect the necessary application information from a person seeking a nonimmigrant visa for temporary travel to the United States. Form DS-160 is submitted electronically to the Department of State website via the Internet. Consular Officers use the information entered on the DS-160 to process the visa application and, combined with a personal interview, determine an applicant’s eligibility for a nonimmigrant visa.

Visa applicants must submit a completed DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application for all nonimmigrant visa categories (except for K, N, S, T, and U categories, which still use the Form DS-156, Nonimmigrant Visa Application). :bonk:

OK U LOST ME ON THAT ONE "ON THE ROAD AGAIN" U SAY THE DS-160 IS FOR NONIMMIGRANT VISAS, EXCEPT FOR K VISAS, BUT A K VISA IS A NON IMMIGRANT VISA?? SO WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO FILE THEN?? A DS-160 OR A DS-260 OR WHAT ELSE??

Arnee1: A lot of these people are trying to be helpful but they are giving you the wrong information. Yes, for Mexico K-1 visa you need to fill out the DS-260 NOT the DS-160. It is correct in the Spanish version. I know because a month ago my fiance went to his interview and brought both to be safe and they did not accept the 160, only the 260.

On the question that asks your relationship to the beneficiary many of us put "spouse" and it was not a problem.

You will fill out the DS-156 and make a copy- either a photocopy or another print. You will bring one copy of DS-156K. DO NOT sign anything now, they want you to sign it in person at the interview, that's why you need two copies because they want both with an original signature.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, you're almost there!

On the Road Again: Looks like you're the one that's getting bonked in the head. :bonk: Please don't post incorrect information, it makes things harder for people who are already confused.

NOW IM ALSO WONDERING DOES SHE HAVE TO GO TO A DIFFRENT APPOINTMENT TO GET HER FINGERPRINTS TAKEN, OR IS THAT ALL DONE AT THE INTERVIEW????

When you want to make the appointment go online or call the consulate phone number. They will book both the ASC (fingerprints) and then your interview for the following day. The buildings are right next to each other. Your fiance will also need to go to the separate medical exam one of the days before the interview, no appointment will be needed but she should get there at 6am and will come back in the afternoon to get the results that need to be presented at the interview.

You are right, I did not understand what your post meant. I apologize. The reason people from Mexico are getting confused right now is because they are getting a letter from the consulate that says to fill out the DS-160. It is a typo, and a really bad one at that. The Spanish version is correct and says DS-260. I could also cut and paste something saying that the DS-260 does not apply. The clarification of that typo is what is being asked here and the only way to know the answer is to ask someone who has been through the process since it changed two months ago. You weren't the only one who didn't understand what was being asked. Again I apologize for not understanding what you were getting at.

IM NOT SURE IF THATS THE FORM I GOTTA FILL OUT, CUS SOMEONE TOLD ME THAT A DS-260 IS FOR AN IMMIGRANT VISA, AND A K VISA IS A NON IMMIGRANT VISA. SO I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO??? AND IVE ALLREADY CALLED THE CONSULTE AND THEY TOLD ME THEY CANT HELP ME WITH THAT.

A K Visa is technically a non-immigrant visa according to the website, but in reality, it truly is an immigrant visa as you intend to come, marry, and live in the US. It was confusing to me also. But it is definitely treated as an immigrant visa. However, as I have learned, each consulate has a different set of rules. As someone already mentioned, the best thing is to go to your specific consulate website and read the directions there. The website for our consulate is where we got the directions and all the forms. We did exactly what it said even if it sounded different than what we had heard. Good Luck

Arnee1: I'm doing great! Hope you are doing well also!

There are two medical offices, you can use either one, and they are right next to the consulate as well. The consulate, fingerprints and medical are all next to eachother so you will be coming back to the same block over and over for the whole process, just entering different buildings. You will get to know it well! If you go to my profile and click "photos" there are some we took of the medical buildings and the consulate entrance.

The only thing that is far from the consulate is the DHL office. If you plan on waiting for the visa in CDJ like we did you will need to get the DHL office to actually pick up the visa. Many hotels have free shuttles or you can get there by taxi for 100 pesos.

It seems confusing now but it will be very obvious when you get there! Let us know if you have any other questions!

THANKS MARIA!!!! ALSO THANKS FOR POSTING PICTURES. IT DOESN'T LOOK AS SCARY AS I IMAGINED IT. DID U GUYS GO TO CLINIC #1 OR CLINIC #2?? BECAUSE I SAW HOW THERE WAS A BIG LINE OUTSIDE OF CLINIC #1 AND NOBODY OUTSIDE OF CLINIC #2 IS THERE A REASON FOR THAT? I ALSO WANTED TO ASK U, HOW LONG DID U GUYS HAVE TO WAIT FOR DHL TO GET YOUR VISA?? I WANTED TO KNOW SO I CAN GET A BALLPARK FIGURE ON HOW MUCH I HAVE TO SPEND ON HOTEL COSTS. ARE THERE ANY HOTELS THAT U RECOMMEND?? IVE BEEN LOOKING AT ONE CALLED HOTEL IBIS ONLINE. IT SAYS ITS RIGHT NEXT TO THE CONSULATE AND IT'S NOT THAT EXPENSIVE. HAVE U HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT THAT HOTEL?? CUS IT'S NOT EXPENSIVE AT ALL COMPARED TO THE QUALITY INN WHICH IS A LITTLE BIT FURTHER THAN THE HOTEL IBIS, THATS WHY THE PRICE MAKES ME WONDER IF ITS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, MAYBE IT'S CHEAP FOR A REASON. WELL HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU AND THANKS AGAIN!!!

Jajaja!! I wondered why, too! But there is NO difference. You can go to either one, they are both approved clinics. Robe went to the first one because he was in a hurry to get in and it was half a block closer! I think a lot of people did the same.

I ALSO WANTED TO ASK U, HOW LONG DID U GUYS HAVE TO WAIT FOR DHL TO GET YOUR VISA??

Well... WE had to wait two weeks after my fiance's interview because they messed up and lost his fingerprints, then tried to find them, then gave up, then redid them! It was a nightmare. Robe was there just about 3 weeks total and I came down the second week to keep him company, it was easier together. And yes, the hotel was an outrageous expense!!!

BUT that's not typical- most people receive their visa after 2 or 3 business days. Many people can be in and out of Juarez in a week, less if you are picking it up in another city DHL.

I WANTED TO KNOW SO I CAN GET A BALLPARK FIGURE ON HOW MUCH I HAVE TO SPEND ON HOTEL COSTS. ARE THERE ANY HOTELS THAT U RECOMMEND?? IVE BEEN LOOKING AT ONE CALLED HOTEL IBIS ONLINE. We stayed at La Quinta and they were very nice and very understanding of our situation. They have free breakfast and a free shuttle in addition to all the normal stuff like wi-fi and pool. If you book online try the discount code HOMEDL and sign up for the rewards program to get free nights. However they are not within easy walking distance from the consulate, you can take the shuttle there but often have to get back by taxi if the shuttle's busy. Hotel Ibis is cheap I think because it is brand new. They had just finished it a couple months ago when we were there and had huge banners offering cheap rooms, it looked nice. It's also right next to the clinic so everything you need will be a few minute walk except DHL. A few VJ members recently mentioned staying there and I didn't hear any complaints!
