hey, all!!

so our K1 paperwork finally went through and the time finally came--my (now) husband has been here for 2 months now and we are both STOKED. it's now time to continue on with the AOS process. i have some questions--hopefully they aren't redundant!

1.) the i-485 form asks for the "non-immigrant visa number"--can someone point me to which number this is on my husband's visa?? there are several and i just want to make sure i get the right one.

2.) i understand that the i-131 form is for permission to travel. in part 3, it asks for "date of intended departure." does this mean i only fill it out if we have specific travel plans? what happens if we have potential travel plans?

3.) lastly, on form i-765, #16 is about "eligibility category"--can someone confirm that since we did the K1 paperwork that our eligibility code is a6?

any information is helpful!!!! thanks!!!

2.) i understand that the i-131 form is for permission to travel. in part 3, it asks for "date of intended departure." does this mean i only fill it out if we have specific travel plans? what happens if we have potential travel plans? No specific plans/dates are required for K-1 AP.

3.) lastly, on form i-765, #16 is about "eligibility category"--can someone confirm that since we did the K1 paperwork that our eligibility code is a6? c9 is the correct code. a6 is only used before marriage/AOS (the EAD you have to pay for that almost no one tries to get.

any information is helpful!!!! thanks!!!

See the Example forms section at the top of the VJ website.

You do not pay for the EAD, please read the instructions.

Many people get the EAD card so they can work before they get their green cards.

EAD and AP are FREE when filed together with AOS.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

Inky,

If you file under eligibility code a6, you pay $340 for an EAD that takes 2-3 months to get and expires on Day 90 after a K-1 entry. That's why it's the "EAD you have to pay for that almost no one tries to get." A K-1 is legally eligible to pay for a useless EAD under code a6.

That is why I said the code is c9.

Yep, a6 is the code you use when filing for EAD without the I-485. You have to pay for it, and it will expire when the I-94 does. So, no one really goes that route.

It is free if you file for it with your I-485 AOS paperwork, and the code you use is c9.
