Alright, for k1 petitions, it's either vermont or california... do they compete? Do they need to meet a similar quota? If so, Vermont would seem to be trying to play catch up. If so, at the pace that Vermont has been keeping more recently... will they continue to push? Speculation is welcomed. This is the stuff I want to know. Filing fee for k1 petition, $340.00... multiply it by 100 (100 petitioners).... a lot of money. Multiply it by 1,000... gee golly... that's even more! Is that what makes our little "petitions" sit for so long and collect dust? Come onnnnn... come on senior members.... educate me. What about staff? Current staff/number of employees of each location? Is it very similiar? Is it all just a joke? What is it? sorry I'm bored, take care all

Matt

No idea.. but VSC is the sole processor of several petitions, such as VAWA, I-914 and I-918 (as opposed to petitions being split amongst CA, TX, NB).

CSC received 2,649 1-129F petitions in March, completed 2,546 while VSC received 2,639 petitions and completed 1,142. Both centers deal with bottleneck but CSC has the better numbers. VSC has received substantially more petitions than it has completed for 6 consecutive months whereas CSC has been close to breaking even if not completing more than received for 4 months.

Bottom line: sucks to be sent to VSC.. :bonk:

So the handful of March petitions we've seen approved, are out of that completed 2,546? And for VSC... this means we are a part of 1,497 WAITING? Good god if that's the case then there's sooooo much more than I ever dreamed of, who apply for this type of visa. So CSC might always be that much faster?

Where do you get YOUR numbers and info? That's the next question for you. For others, please reply to my original post

Filed: Citizen (apr) Country: Ecuador
Timeline

According to a very reliable source with knowledge as close to "insider" as an outsider can have, the VSC is in the process of relocating to larger quarters several miles away. This is not easily done, as we can imagine, and it will take them awhile to get organized and caught up. The difference in processing waits also applies to ROC applications. I haven't checked the status of our ROC application once (in stark contrast to checking the I-129F petition's status 3 years ago, when the CSC was like molasses and the VSC was whipping them out). This may sound like heresy to some, but after our unspeakable mistreatment by the ####### consulate, I considered it a refreshing pleasure to have to deal with USCIS again when it came time for AOS (which went timely and uneventfully).

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Unfortunately, it is worse than that. VSC has 582 I-129F petitions "awaiting customer action" - I believe this indicates awaiting RFE response. And there are an additional 13,935 petitions pending which do not fall into the completed or awaiting action categories (received petitions are heaped into the pending number). So we are actually waiting with the 13,935

Check out this link: http://dashboard.uscis.gov/index.cfm?formtype=6&office=6&charttype=2

Toggle with the trend chart - data is provided for the previous year and you may also download it if you enjoy numbers and stats.

The March petitions we've seen approved are from the batch of around 14K - if it were only about 1500 people ahead of us that'd be much more encouraging. I've done the math in the past and VJ represents less than most think, it is about 0.4% rather than 2-3%.

For February filers at VSC VJ indicates ~60 filers for the entire month. Through USCIS I have identified more than 60 case numbers which were received on the same day as mine, I couldn't fathom how many for the whole month. I am sure there are more, I just got tired of plugging in numbers. It really is near mind boggling.

TBoneTX - I live relatively close to the VSC and it is bittersweet - I would have preferred to hand deliver my I-129F peition and personally 'help' them adjudicate it. For your sake, welcome back to USCIS! I hope the end of the ROC process is right around the corner for you.

It's the government.. the change in processing times is understandable, it will continue to flip flop back and forth between the centers. I just wish I caught VSC at a better time!

Well, now I can see more clearly at least. A little less in the dark about it. I can see now that there's so many factors that keep backing things up/mixing things up. Manpower, waiting for RFE responses, other petitions coming in obviously at no set number each month lol. Could be 3,000 in one month filing a K1, could be 1,000. I bet there's a lot of confusion in those places and probably a lot of changes. And we all know that the petitioner alone can complicate things as well... Oh well, it's nice to see some of that statistical data.

Keep on keeping on,

Matt
