Can anyone tell me if I have to send the police certificate with the DS-230 to the NVC?

I read on the instructions that I have to submit the police certificate and the DS-230 to NVC http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html

but I also read that I MUST bring a valid Police Certificate with me at the time of my interview to the Costa Rican embassy http://travel.state.gov/pdf/supplements/SNJ-POL-ENGL-0001-0709.pdf

I am very confused. What do I have to do now?

Thank you in advanced!!

Funny That you ask because 50% your get this answer Yes send to NVC w. DS 230 20% will say only send Ds 230 to NVC and Certificate to embassy for interview

Guide line on Vj's said that all certificates Original Must be send to the NVC together w. DS -230 . I hope you pay the AOS fee and DS 230 .

I understand you are K 1 Im not Im CR 1 However regardless if you are planing weadding 90 days after your fiance get to US .

MY best advice

1) Follow Vj's Rules and add some twist to it.

All Certificates Original To NVC Remember all Spanish MUst be transalated by Agency and certify.

I send my USCIS PKG to NVC w. Forms Plust I have Original Copies for Interview .

At the ENd

USCIS All Proof

NVC COpies of USCIS File Plus Form Plus original certificates w. Certify Transalation

For the Embassy Im Merging first 2 steps

Good LUck

No, I am not applying for a K1. I am applying for the IR-1. My husband already paid the AOS DS230 fees and we got the cover sheets.

I asked because I know that before, Costa Rican filers had to submit the DS230 to the US Embassy along with the police certificate in Costa Rica.

I do not know if I still have to submit the DS230 to the US Embassy or to NVC.

If you read the link, you will know that Costa Ricans need to go to the embassy, get an official request, with that document I can get the police certificate.

Thank you for your reply

I sent my Police certificate with my DS-230 to the NVC with English translation just to make sure no RFE. I went straight to Juridicial and bring my passport with me ( since i'm not a residence here) and told them that I'm going to use it for US embassy. For Costa Rica residence, they will ask your CEDULA.

I did what you told me and I did not have any problem!!!

I got my police certificate, the translation and the certification at the casa amarilla.

This is what I did: I sent the police certificate and the DS-230 by Fed Ex today. My husband will get the package tomorrow afternoon, so he can post it to NVC as soon as possible.

CR police certificate is good for 3 months--not 90 days--not 30 days. ANd 99% of the time you can get it without the letter form the embassy.

NOTHING has to be translated from Spanish to English for the CR consulate.
