Yes, My Fiance ( the USC ) got a letter from NVC saying that they sent our petition to the consulate ( the wrong consulate ) Then a second letter from NVC saying they corrected the mistake.

We got notified by letter, but by the time it arrived I already knew my case was at the consulate.

We just got letter, - that NVC received our case, APPROVED and forwarded to embassy.

There is receipt number (NOA1), case number (for embassy) and barcode.

I had emailed the NVC about a week after my approval asking if they received my petition and by the time they had replied they had received it, finished with it, and sent it to London. Apparently Ed should be getting a letter but so far no show, and this is 5 days after I got the email saying it was sent.

I was notified. Strangley, NVC has no record of receiving it 3 weeks later.

They won't e-mail you (unless if they reply to an e-mail sent about about the case). If you do so, mention the NOA1 case number.
