Hey guys,

Just wondering how the AOS process works in more detail.........for instance what happens to the application..... OK first it goes to Chicago (but what for?)....... and then why does it go to Lee's summitt? and then transferred to CSC?

Just wondering.......... am a little bored here!!! waiting on some e-mail saying they have received our RFE!!

:P

AOS gets sent to Chicago Lockbox where they do initial checks, like have you signed the forms, and cash the checks.

Then it gets forwarded to the National Benefits Center for processing. Here they take a good hard look at your forms and decide if they need to send any RFEs, etc.

The last part can go both ways. Either AOS gets transferred to your District Office so a USCIS can interview you and do the final processing of your case, or your case gets transferred to CSC where they will do the final processing without the need for interview. Which of these happens is seemingly random, but I believe only conditional green cards are processed without interview.
