Doctor's note for medical

I was reading the list of things needed for the medical appointment and a physician's letter is required for any major surgery. It states that "major surgery usually involves an overnight stay and/or anesthesia". Is gallbladder surgery considered major surgery? I had my gallbladder removed laparoscopically 17ys ago, will I need a letter from my doctor? I don't have a family doctor does anyone know if a doctor from a walk in clinic can give you the letter?
