Hey, folks. I've started preparing my i864 form and have couple things.

Since we did a joint tax return and based on previous threads on i864 I'll have to submit a photocopy of our joint tax return for 2010 and send my W-2 form.

Do I have to submit my bank statement about interest along with this photocopy as well?

And one more thing. Will it be any kind of problem for me (as a sponsor) if my Federal tax return form shows unemployment benefits for my wife (surely, it doesn't specify who was getting those unemployment benefits)? Will it trigger any red flags for my i864 processing?

I'm sure if you are providing the W-2 with CURRENT up to day paystubs I bet they can figure out who is getting the Unemployment Compensation.

You wife will not get a W-2 for UC as well. So that is a way for them to decipher who's ultimately getting the UC.

Well, she was getting unemployment benefits last year, so does it mean that I will have to submit all my pay-stubs for the entire 2010  ?

Any suggestions?

I've pre-filled my i864 and have couple more questions:

1. When you enter any amounts in 23-25, should they be rounded amounts (just in $), like $70,000.00 or with cents: like $70,000.40?

2. Should my income on i864 match my 1040 amount or the amount from W-2+bank interest?

Well, in fact, q.1 answers q.2.

In form 1040 all the amounts are rounded, but accompanying W-2 and bank statement come with exact amounts in format $ xx,xxx.xx

3. Does the client's copy of 1040 have to be signed by both of us (me and my wife) and the tax preparer? Or just my signature will suffice?

4. Do I have to submit any proof for my wife's unemployment benefits (she is in Canada)? Since, when I was filling our joint tax IRS told me that it's not required (unless IRS puts red flag on it  )

A "complete tax return" would usually have a 1099 form for the unemployment benefits. That 1099 would have your wife's name on it. Send a copy of the complete return including anything that would have gone in the mail to the IRS if you had filed by mail.

If you remember my case sir, my mother did not receive a 1099 in her complete tax return. I am sending EVERYTHING else that was filed with the return though as you suggested in my thread.

I don't have that form since:

1. My wife was non-resident alien in 2010 and she had no US income

2. IRS OK'ed that I'd simply include that amount in my 1040 per her verbal statement. And I had no issues with IRS afterwords. Got my refund back on time B-) .

I think, I will submit all my pay-stubs for the entire 2010 (no big deal - I've downloaded all of them from company's server in .pdf format) just to prove my contiguous employment

Pushbrk, could you clear the rest of my questions? Thanks

Just your signature on the tax return is fine. Your current income is whatever it is, if you have pay stubs. 2010 is in the past. Why would you include any pay stubs from 2010? Your complete tax return has everything you need for 2010.

How about this question:

I have no clue how the NVC is picky with numbers

Enter the actual amounts. If you have a round dollar salary of 56,000, that's what you enter. If you earn 15.36 an hour 40 hours a week, you multiply by 2080 and enter 31,948.80. Focus on simply providing accurate truthful information and you'll avoid a lot of confusion.

One more thing: which amount should be entered in 23: expected in 2011 or earned in 2010?

Because I've found on VJ different answers for that amount.

So, what is the verdict?

Anualize your actual current earnings. Current is now. 2010 is past. They may or may not be the same or even similar.

You're right  !

But in my 1040 form the amount is rounded. And W-2 shows the exact salary amount.

So, like I've asked before: which numbers should I use for i864 - from 1040 or from W-2?

Thanks a lot again.

Look at the question and answer it. Hint: The I-864 asks no questions about W2 forms. Use your head.
