So, the conservative NY26 district elects a Democrat as their representative in Washington. This was a sure win for the GOP who has held the seat for decades. Well, it was a sure win until the GOP decided it would be a good idea to get rid of Medicare. The conservative district said: Not so fast. And there are more to come. This Ryan deal was the best thing the GOP could do to jeopardize their House majority. A book of fiction and fantasy that was clear on what the GOP stands for - elimination of the program that has ensured for decades that seniors can get the healthcare they need without falling victim to the private health insurance industry. Keep it up, I say, keep it up! The Ryan Plan and the House GOP - and soon many of the GOP Senators - voting for it will be the gift that keeps on giving. :D

Yeah, the GOP held that seat for all but 16 years since 1857. Some volatility.

The GOP candidate Chris Lee won that district with 55% in 2008 (McCain carried it as well in the Presidential race) and was re-elected with a whopping 74% in 2010. How do you go from 74% to 43% in a few months? Yes, with support for Paul Ryan's plan. That's how.

I think the 'granny off a cliff' issue is the biggest mistake I have seen any party make in very many years

The over confidence that led to that policy is a good example of 'pride comes before a fall'

The only way the Conservatives can get a toehold on power in the UK is to swear their blind devotion to the National Health System

The American right wing are now finding out the hard way that they will, forever, have to pay homage at that same alter

If the US ever gets universal health care - that will be irreversible as it has been in EVERY country that has ever achieved it

The right wing know that but their last stand has become their Stalingrad rather than their successful commando assault

They are dead for 2012 - I will get my daughter in the UK to bet on Mr O as it is probably illegal here
