What would you do to them ? What would Jesus do to them ? They are human you know.

Your answer will be most revealing..

Anyway, they might be in a good job 10 years from now and you might be paralyzed and bankrupt. If we all decided to help each other, we wouldn't need to worry about it

People here are terrified about helping the homeless or gays or blacks or illegals - the rest of the world knows that and it is a stain on the character of the USA that they deliberately allow the weak and the sick and the uneducated to rot in their situations.

Then they go to church and make out they are followers of Jesus after they treat their fellow human like that. Shudder.

I wouldnt do anything to them unless they broke the law. Then I would be more than happy to lock them up. For you to be putting words in the mouth of god is whats telling. Your one of those libs that love to spend others money and then feel like you helped. Quite sad really.

No,I resent helping ppl that dont or wont help themselves. Then have some dumb ####### pres. Take it and give to them for votes.

...and who is to decide whether it's their fault or not - you ?

Perhaps they got drunk and fell and they are paralyzed - your ilk would say it's not your fault - it's theirs. Leave them to get gangrene or starve to death because it's their fault they ended up like that

Those attitudes discredit America but will change soon as they will go where slavery and child labor and no unions and no minimum wage and racism have gone...the shameful dustbin of history where they belong

Are you a follower and a believer in Jesus or an atheist ? If you say atheist I will move to have you expelled from the atheists club as it might bring us into disrepute to have such an unfeeling person who has no compassion for fellow human beings

Seems you got a few issues that need to be resolved.

Seems you are keeping quiet all of a sudden and won't say whether you are a christian or not.

So coy .... I will assume you are - as most of you gunslinger ultra right people are - or say you are.

You need to square your social attitudes with how Jesus thought of the poor and sick and you will conclude that you are opposite to the teachings

I have never met an atheist who has no concience for the poor and sick so I am pretty sure you are not one of those

This needs to be kept in perspective. The homeless problem in the USA is nothing compared to what I have seen in India. Not to insult India, but I was stunned, and that is after I have seen the worse of the worse in the USA.

As I mentioned, I hear a lot of conversations from what appear to be homeless people, and for one, attitudes are going to have to change for them to become part of society again. Also, appearances are important. Where is some organization to help homeless become employable? Be it a government, church, atheist or whatever organization where is the help?

And finally, I think that the homeless problem could and will be solved in America. But the solution will not come from Government or liberal ideas. That direction has been tried for years with no positive results. The answer will be a conservative idea and will include evil profit, but it will work. Instead of criticizing Wal-Mart so heavily, the libs should study it's job creating mastery and try and mirror that for some type of program or solution to the homeless situation. Bill Clinton and the Gingrich congress came up with an effective workfare program. How about something like that focused on the homeless community with the involvement of free enterprise to create the jobs for homeless people so that they can become housed and self sufficient.

That would be one possible answer I think.

But what if the sick are unemployable because of mental health or age or many other reasons ?

They would then be 'no use'

It appears that unless they can somehow be recycled, they are no use. Yes it is sometimes OUR fault that we become one of them

My main point is that you or I could be one of these by the week end if we had a blood clot or some other accident

Our only security is pooling our resources as far as health is concerned. It isn't giving it to the undeserving as we might be one of them next week

It's hilarious that the right winger thinks I have issues because I think like the whole of the developed world. If he ever got out of sucksville he would be amazed at how beneficial other systems can be - on the other hand he is likely to be one of those who think they are ok until a tornado kills their family and rips their legs off - at that point they suddenly believe in socialized this and socialized that. No doubt his answer would be to beg for charity.

No country in the world envies the US this kind of attitude that is shown to those who fall by the wayside and who have to beg for charity

So many people are one paycheck away from sleeping in the car. Even some right wingers have had that experience. I have never accepted an excuse from myself to allow failure though, and that has served me well.

And of course, not everyone would be, could be or should be employable. In those cases society should help out, not even right wingers object to that.

I think one could say that the goal of helping the poor and homeless is similar, just the approach to the answer is different. I just wish one of us would figure it out so the problem would be solved. The homeless situation in Germany is almost non-existant except the largest cities, but their solution would not work in the US under the current and prevailing climate. So what is the answer?

I think it's cowardly of you not to put your cards on the table and say whether you are a follower of Jesus or an atheist

I like Jesus' teachings although I am an atheist. Most atheists think like that.

I suspect you are a one of those christians who jesus would disown for not hearing his message regarding the old/the widows/the sick/the weak

I hope your disdain and callousness towards those people will leave you one day coz we are all one accident away from being one of them - well perhaps not a widow.

If the money for your next box of ammo was used to fix the broken leg of an illegal immigrant child - would that be so bad ? Why do I ask when I know you think it would be bad

PLease quote for me the scripture where Jesus compels followers .....to compel others to feed the poor or any other noble act of charity?

Jesus instructs his followers to "personally care for the poor (as well as lead them to Salvation .. that part you are probably not to keen on).

List for me the Homeless shelters in your city, I will wagger they were founded by Christians... not Atheists.

Atheists are more often tight fisted with donations, if you want me to repost the study let me know.

Bottom line, Jesus never said "Go ye into all the lands and build huge inefficient bureaucracies which only compound the problems besetting by the poor."

How you confuse Charity... with government obligation is telling.
