Then they turn around and unanimously vote to abolish Medicare altogether

When did this happen? I would be interested in seeing that article or other information about that vote.

A voucher system means that when you have spent that - you are on your own and nobody cares what happens to you

Only the right wing want their children to grow up in that kind of society and are prepared to inflict that on their elderly relatives and on themselves when the cost falls back on them

This admiration for child labor and limited health care and lower safety standards and drill in paradise and small print in contracts and unrestricted bank interest and no minimum wage or employee protection and outlawed unions etc etc etc - is totally loathsome to me and I can hardly believe that people who think like that are driving on the same road as me and think like that

I would not mind my daughter marrying a reformed cannibal from Borneo, but I would mind her marrying someone who supports all that stuff

A voucher program isn't the guaranteed benefit that Medicare is - i.e. the guaratee that you can afford to access needed health care services. You know that, of course, but would like to pretend otherwise.

The GOP? Really? They want to control you all the way into your bedroom. Limited government would not ever even consider doing any such thing. By the way, I've got a bridge to sell, too.

As we have noted before, it's the left who are all in everyones bedroom, dictating what lightbulbs we read by, what type of toilets we sit on, the number and flow of shower heads we bath by.

When I hire someone to even clean or paint my bedroom (the most private room in the house), the Left is right there checking that I only use a lead-paint licensed contractor and epa approved paint. (which suks)

My poor cleaning lady and I can't even work out our own pay scale without you sticking your nose in to check.

The famous reptilian ex governor of California worked out an arrangement with his cleaning lady - why can't you ?

Perhaps you can hire her 6 year old kid to do the cleaning at 20 cents an hour

That's how reptilians think isn't it ? The dignity of labor boils down to exploiting the desperate in the reptilians play book

kids sweeping up chimneys ? why not in the 'free' market ?

It's ironic that the 'pro life' right wing will only support one government organization - that which is trained to take life

.....and don't tell me that the military is there to protect life - one look at the Vietnam war disproves that - it's there to promote government and government policy

Of course it's necessary - but on the same basis, so are many government services - like driver's licenses for instance

- You should familiarize yourself with the Pro-life folks, my limited experience demonstrated a wide assortment of views on these topics.

-As for the body count in Vietnam... you will notice an explosion in deaths starting when.... the US withdrew.

I didn't know that the Voucher system was considered elimating Medicare. I understand what you are saying now, so thanks for the clarification.

..and the millions who died before the US withdrew ? and what would the body count have been if the US had never been involved in the first place ?

What did this one essential government service achieve for the USA during those years ?

It achieved much damage AGAINST the USA and against Americans

My buddy stepped on a land mine in Vietnam - for what purpose was he crippled ?

The fact is that militarism isnt glorious or to be promoted - but Medicare is

Hey, I'm all for bringing back lead paint. In fact, it should have a GOP seal of approval on it and should be mandatory for all registered Republicans.

What do you mean "considered eliminating Medicare"? That's what it is. It ends the guaranteed benefit program and replaces it with a flat check that will not cover the cost of private market insurance - if such insurance is even available. That is an elimination of Medicare.

Just checked my passports - especially the red one

Talk about 'right to life' - that red passport is mine and my possible salvation if Ryan ever got his way

When I am on my way to the airport and medical treatment, I will wave to the rightos with their used up vouchers as they cough away their last minutes saying 'independence' 'pioneer spirit' 'individuality 'personal responsibility' etc etc

The trouble is that for every one of them, there will be a normal human being who is being forced to suffer with them and because of the rightos political dogma

If health care was nationalized, or single payer, would the voucher system work to provide seniors with Medicare? Another naive question- would the voucher system help anyone? Would anyone be able to get this insurance or would everyone not be able to afford it?

Sorry but I don't have much experience with Medicare and I am gathering information to establish an honest fact based opinion.

So why are you here? Not being a smartalik but I also can return like you to health care and I even have 2 years of unemployment waiting for me to claim. So why are we here, especially when I am separated from my wife?

Is the USA such a great place that we sacrifice to be here?

But getting way off topic, sorry.

I sure wish I could get some of it, I am currently checking to see if I can obtain it though industrial supply sources.

Thanks to libs, the paint you buy at Home Depot only lasts a few years at best.

Lead paint is only possibly harmful to children... who ingest it.

DID you ever chew on the Window shutters when you were 6?

Ironically enough, back in the Days when America was a world leader in Education.... lead paint was everywhere and in high concentrations.

I know what you mean - I am here because my wife is a yanky who doesn't survive well outside the US AND I spend 6 hours a day trading stocks and options and the US is the place to be for that as there is no tax - everything is constructed for capitalists - and I am one of those so I pay little tax while the poor work 3 jobs

I have enough dosh to go back to Europe 4 times a year so I can stock up on normality and take deep breaths before I plunge back into the US

However, I am constantly relieved that I have my red passport and if this place does disintegrate into the 19th century with child labor and no Medicare and unbridled company power, I can get out of here and survive and be treated

The ordinary American can't do that and so I find it hard to understand why they keep voting to be abused by the rich and have their employment rights and health care stripped away.

It's a mystery
