Thank you very much Nimaan for answering my question. I'm not holding my breath for the return of the green card from the post office to the USCIS. But they want to wait 60 days to make sure it doesn't get there. I think 30 days is enough time. I'm officially fed up with being on the phone with anything dealing with gov't.

The envelope is from the USPS? Yeah I'm not getting that back!

Also it makes no sense that the letter but not the envelope has the tracking number, how are they tracking it without it being on the outside of the envelope. I'll never understand the way things operate and why!

If I remember correctly the envelope is white, bigger and wider than a regular letter sized envelope and is transparent in 3 places.. Top left corner for the return address, top right corner for the tracking number and the bottom left for the name of the addresee.

It looks like one of those confirmations letters you get from USPS if you change your address.

If you know the address where the GC was sent to, then you can fill a change of address from the wrong address to your home address.

i actually still have the envelope that yenia's card was sent in...it's a priority mail envelope (flat rate mailing envelope) with the confirmation/tracking number viewable from the outside above the addressee's name and address, the return address is VSC, has red borders at the top and bottom with "priority mail" printed under the return address window, and is approx 6" x 9" in size...

I blame the data center in London, KY.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Thanks Lars!

I just checked the usps site today and the card was returned to Vermont yesterday.

Oh yes it's the processing place's fault. I didn't realize at first that they process them outside of the facility in VT. I'm glad calling the post office got them to get that back to them. Now I'll just see what VSC can do to return it to the right address.

When I got the congressman involved I made sure that when he contacted Pittsburgh that they entered the right address in the system. I didn't want to take any chances with the service reps that I had previously talked with.

Left a message with him today about it...I'll let you know the results in case anyone else is in this boat in the future. katiemanny, have you gotten anything yet?

I think everyone was sick of me calling. Between the congressman, USPS and USCIS they wanted to get me off the phone lol.

I think if anyone does find themselves in the same predicament with the card production place, to definitely be tenacious.

No, below is an email I received from USCIS after put in a service request. I will wait until 60 days has past before contacting my congressman.

Dear M. John Doe:

On 06/02/2011 you, or the designated representative shown below, contacted us about your case. Some of the key information given to us at that time was the following:

Caller indicated they are:

-- Applicant or Petitioner

Attorney Name:

-- Information not available

Case type:

-- CRI89

Filing date:

-- 03/02/2011

Receipt #:

-- WAC-XX-XXX-XXXXX

Referral ID:

ETCXXXXXXXXXXCSC

Beneficiary (if you filed for someone else):

-- Information not available

Your USCIS Account Number (A-number):

-- 0XXXXXXXXX

Type of service requested:

-- Non-Delivery of Permanent Resident Card

The status of this service request is:

USCIS records indicate that your I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence was approved on My 6, 2011.

On May 10, 2011, your Permanent Resident Card was generated and we mailed it to the address we had on record at that time. Our records do not show that the card was returned to USCIS as undeliverable.

Since the card was not returned as undeliverable to USCIS, then you must file Form I-90 using reason "A" (My previous card has been lost, stolen or destroyed).

You must include the application fee and biometric fee with this application if filing using reason "A".

You can download this form and the instructions via our website at www.uscis.gov.

They still cannot give you a tracking number??? Someone at the card production center in KY must have been on some moonshine in early May. Geez.

I would call my congressman about getting that fee waived if you do the I-90.

I will definitely contact my congressman about this issue, there's no way I will pay to replace that card. And they will have to give a reason on why that card was mailed with no tracking number, its unacceptable.
