I just got back from Canada this week and I now have smarties and passion flakies!! I also picked up some cadbury bars and some Mars bars for Si. I had to hide it all cause he has a bit of a chocolate addiction and he would have it all gone in a week. This way I will bring them out for special occasions....lol

I miss flake bars :( Those suckers were hard to find in Canada too, and they would show up in the strangest places, like Toys R Us or the local gas station every now and then ... I love taking a flake bar ...

Flakie's are in every grocery store in my town! Often times there are different flavours as well!

OH! What about Maple Leaf cookies? Are they available in the States? I don't recall seeing them on my travels.

And Pink Crush Cream Soda. I have only seen clear cream soda and not Crush brand. I have seen Cherry Crush which is sooo good...as well as Strawberry (not as good as Cherry but not bad). I love Crush Cream Soda!

I was surprised to see clear Cream Sodas too. Probably better not to have the dye. lol. Luckily, I don't drink those. I haven't seen Maple Leaf cookies. But, then, I haven't looked for them. I don't imagine you'd be able to find them. They don't have Arrowroots here, either.

I saw Maple Leaf cookies at the Dollar Tree before. I just checked the store's online site and they do sell them in bulk so i am assuming that they probably carry them in the store too.. oh and they are made in Canada..

the Dollar Tree used to sell Coffee Crisps too but I haven't seen them there in ages :(..... I was just reading about this.. Nestle Canada used to ship them to the US but they stopped for some reason

and A&W brand has a really yummy cream soda.. it isn't pink tough..

I had never heard of Passion Flakies before I joined this forum... and I don't recall seeing them in the stores of the town I lived in BC...

I just discovered imposter smarties :o My hubby was headed out to the grocery store a few weeks ago and asked if I wanted anything, apon thinking for a second I said "Yummy... a box of smarties" So he says "A box?" and I said ... "yeah a box of smarties".. so he said "Well ok".

He gets back from the store and says "I couldnt find smarties in a box, so I got a whole bag". Im thinking OMG.. A WHOLE BAG OF SMARTIES.... ALL FOR MEEEEEEEE!!!!!(hubby doesnt eat chocolate)... and then he pulled the bag out.... :crying: They werent canadian smarties at all....and of course my poor hubby was left wondering why I was in the throws of a mini meltdown when all he did was get what he thought I asked for in the first place.

I googled canadian smarties and showed him and his words were... "we'll you should have just asked for M&M's".... :bonk:

Invictus..

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll.

I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul.

They just don't get that although they appear somewhat similar, smarties and m&m's have a different taste. I find the chocolate in M&M's to be very 'waxy'. They are especially yucky when they are in something like a McFlurry and that yuckyness leaves that nasty coating on the roof of your mouth!! I miss my smarties blizzards!

I am gonna miss Smarties McFlurry's. I am an assistant manager at a McD's in Canada right now and I loooove Smarties Fudge McFlurry's (yay for Create Your Own McFlurry...thanks to the trial runs at my store last year!). I never like the M&M ones in the States.

I, too, brought back Smarties to show the folks here the difference. US smarties are actually Rockets that normally come available at Halloween at home.

The ladies that I go to Retreat on have taken a liking to Willow-crips. So everytime I go home, I bring back a bag from the Bulk Barn. I might be bringing back Smarties now too.

This July 4th, I'm taking Schneiders Hot Dogs to the get together. See what they think of Canadian Hot Dogs : :whistle:lol: .

I miss Crunchie's and Crispy Crunch. I haven't seen any Sponge Toffee around here - another thing I may stock up on when I go to Canada in August....

OMG! I didn't know there's no coffee crisps in the US. That's my favourite chocolate bar :( They will be dearly missed along with Jos Louis and The Mandarin. LOL.
